I need to make a grocery list because I am starting a diet which will consist of wraps instead of sandwiches or burgers, and lower fat and sugar.
I tried a flatbread sandwich from Subway. OMG they are SO GOOD!!! and satisfying.
SO I tend to buy things I shouldnt and I want to make a list of good foods that will help me lose weight.

IF you have any ideas please post. I would love to see other people's shopping lists so I can get ideas for mine.

I have learned to stay out of the inside aisles. Fresh produce is the best and deli sliced meats. Frozen veggies are good also. Stay away from processed foods. They have more calories and fat grams. Steamed cauliflower, broccoli, and carrots together are good and don't have that many calories.

OH Ya I heard that a long time ago and forgot, about skipping the inside isles. Thank you for reminding me. Gonna cruise the outer perimeter, and maybe hit the frozen section for fruits for smoothies.

Just watch the sugar content on the smoothies. These are notorious for being sneakily high in sugar. Read packaging labels carefully. Try to go for 5g of carbs to 100g of product. That's keeping it low carb.

I like to keep a variety of low sugar, high fiber cereals and snack bars on hand. Also yogurts. Cottage cheese is high in protein and is tasty with fruit. I like low sugar popsicles for a healthy sweet treat.

Yum, cottage cheese with fruit sounds good. I guess this means I won't be putting strawberry jelly in it anymore. lol

What kind of snack bars do you eat?

I recommend Kind brand snack bars. http://www.kindsnacks.com/

They are delicious and have quality ingredients and a low glycemic index. The best price I've seen them for in Manhattan is at Trader Joe's. I especially like the apricot/almond bar.

best thing i have been told to help lose weight is to eat like a king at breakfast, a princess at lunch and a pauper at supper and never eat after 6pm. this way you kick start your metabolism early in the day giving it longer to work before it slows down in the evening. big meals late at night stay in your stomach all night giving longer for fats to be absorbed.

oat cakes are a great substitute to bread as they keep you full for ages, herb and seed ones are great on their own, so do not need a topping which cuts down your calorie intake.

try substituting meat for prawns or mussles in stirfrys, curries etc as these are much less calorific and still give the sense of having meat

try poached fish rather than coated fried fish

try chopping a selection of root veg into chunky fingers, place in a food bag, add a drop of oil, shake, lift out the fingers onto a pre heated baking tray and oven cook till soft inside and crispy on the outside for healthy chips/fries

sugar free jello and fruit is a great low cal dessert or to stop the sweet cravings

if you really can't give up the chocolate bars chop them into bite size chunks and freeze them, the time it takes for one chunk to defrost in your mouth and be eaten is enough time for your brain to register the craving has been satisfied, so you end up eating much less.

may seem strange but pureed veg or veg soup takes longer to break down than chunky veg, not sure how or why but it works, so try making some veg soup, (not with cream) and have a bowl or cup full before you eat, you will eat less as your brain will register your tummy is full quicker lessening the chance of over eating and the soup fills you for longer than the meal preventing you from feeling hungry too soon.

keep any not so healthy snacks in a plastic box in the garage or garden shed, it makes you really consider whether you really want to go outside to get one!
Thanks for this!
