I used to be quite thin when I was younger but thanks to a doctor giving me medications instead of looking to find the right answer I gained a considerable amount of weight. That was perhaps 5 years ago, and since then I have struggled a bit with my weight, I've never been FAT fat, but I've had a stomach and filled out a bit all over. I've attempted to lose weight a few times, but after I saw a specialist about my back problems, and after I went to put on a pair of jeans that I couldn't get past my knees, and when I started to get to the point that I actually FELT fat, I decided I've really got to put the effort in.
Well it's been 3 weeks since I started, and I've lost between 3 and 5 kilos already, but I worry whenever I eat anything because I am scared the weight will come back on, especially since I love to eat. When I count calories I do it quite lazily, as I really can't be assed calculating every single thing I eat, but I do think I've been eating less calories than I should be. But seeing that I have managed to lose weight is keeping me motivated.

I know what you mean. I have gained a lot of weight with meds, too --and I need to lose some, but I can't even exercise due to spine and knee problems. So, cutting the calories seems the best approach. How's it going now? I think the danger is the body's panicking and going into starvation mode if calories drop below around 1200 a day. Is that what you've read?

Attempts to lose weight normally lead to weight gain.

i have given up trying to lose weight, when your muscles don't work enough to keep you sitting upright unsupported, even on 1200 calories a day you put on weight if you are called me! so either i do not eat or accept that i am destined to be fat! at least the fat stops me completely nose diving the bedwhen i am undressing !

good luck on this and good job! stay positive.

i don't pay attention to calories. i just eat what i want, as long as it's not too fattening, and i don't over-indulge myself. i did this when i was losing weight the first time. it's just a matter of burning more than you take in. but back when i was thin i was an exercise junkie.

i hope you are still exercising and eating right. that's the best way to do it, unless you are still on medicine that causes weight gain. in which case, that would suck
