Not gonna put this in some place like the ED forum.
Last night, due to circumstances, I had no chance at all to grab anything on my way between work and the gym, and I had nothing with me edible. So, I was really starving by the time I got out of there, after 8 pm - had had anything to eat since my afternoon snack, which was cucumbers and Greek yogurt anyway. I gave into it ... stopped on the way home and bought a pepperoni pizza and a 20 ounce bottle of Coke. I ended up eating 4 slices, plus of course the bottle of Coke. And I have to confess, it tasted pretty good. It wasn't great, it was just cheap "ready to go" pizza from a chain. And, of course, today I feel like crap physically - my system is not used to junk like that now, and it is rebelling, I have that really heavy feeling. I know its' not the end of the world -- but shame on me anyway. Today, I'm staying very light to compensate, and because I am not hungry anyway after that. Cucumbers, yogurt, water, and a couple of ounces of very lean beef so far. I will have lunch, probably more beef on a low-carb wrap. Overall, was it worth it? Not really. |

Hi MJ
![]() What I do in these situations is just let it go. Nothing you can do, or not do, can change it now. It was just 1 meal, that's all. There are another 20 meals that you eat during a week (based on 3 meals a day, for 7 days). Whats done is done. You've learnt from it- you have learnt that maybe you should be a bit more prepared if you know you are going to be somewhere later than usual etc. Pack some snacks (fruit etc) or eat earlier. No harm, no foul. Take care.

When I achieve perfection, Johnny, I'll come back & click my tongue at you for eating a store-bought pizza because you were hungry. Yes, I guess we all have those little lapses occasionally... & we pay for them the next day. But... hey... at least you didn't go out on a bender! This too shall pass...

Hey there, thanks to both of you for the responses.
I know, it's not really a "big deal" at all. I mostly wanted to post this because "confession is good for the soul". I find admitting things like this helps me to avoid repeating the pattern the next few days. I don't know if it works this way for others, although I have heard other people say it does, but to me, a taste of whatever that contains either a lot of sugar, salt, or fat, and especially if all of the above, makes me crave it all the stronger for a few days. Honestly, I swear with Coca Cola, they are lying to us, and only claim they took the Cocaine out of it over a hundred years ago. My brain reacts to HFCS as if it were cocaine. Once I lapse, I feel like it is calling my name. Fortunately today, it's not as bad as I feared. So far, I've only had 800 calories for the day, and a ton of water. Cleansing the system. I'll have a very high P dinner, that counteracts all of the sugar and fat from yesterday. |

Yeah the hfcs and the salt does it for me. But a lot of diets advocate a cheat day to tell your metabolism youre not actually starving, that there IS food readily available in the environment. They say not to let it turn into a cheat week. I say, dont let it turn into a cheat three months and youll be alright!

Sometimes it is not possible to be prepared and just need to make do, or even just to splurge once in awhile for some kind of treat, whatever they may be for each of us. You have already started to adjust for it in the days following. Kudos for not making it a daily thing and getting back to better choices. Just think of it as enjoying it while it lasted and on to other good things too now.
