So, I have a thread in the Self Help section of the forum about fitness and self-care, which can be found here:

http://forums.psychcentral.com/self-...are-check.html

I want to keep that just for discussing exercise and self care (basically healthy living) but I also wanted a place to record specific number of pounds lost each week since this is technically the Exercise and Weight Loss forum. I don't want to put specifics in the other thread and trigger anyone with an eating disorder.

So I hope this is okay, I'll check in tomorrow morning since it will officially be 1 week since I started exercising and eating healthy and post how much I've lost once I weigh myself.

Well done for making an active decision to lose weight in a healthy way .

This is just a thought but my understanding, from talking with my dietitian colleagues, is that sustainable weight loss is preferably in the 1-2 lb/week range - anything greater than that may not be sustainable.

You might find the information in this site helpful: Weight loss: Strategies for success - Mayo Clinic

Thank for the info! 1-2 lbs a week is my goal, I don't know how I managed to lose 6 in the first week but I cut out ALOT of junk food and exercised. I know that sometimes happens in the beginning and not to expect that much of a loss after that, it takes time

Hello...
Junk food is the major reason of weight gain. The oily food always results in gain fat in excess amount.
The healthy food and exercise is very much helpful in weight lose. Keep patience. It will surely help you to become fit and healthy. Along with this you must drink 12 glasses of water in a day.
Thanks...

Well, here we are. I gained weight. A lot too. I took several days off of exercise and caved in and ate a lot of junk food but I still need to record it.

Week 4

Gained 4.4 lbs

Definitely working harder this coming week.

For weight loss you need to consult dietician . For that you are required to consult volumetrics . Volumetrics isn’t just about eating lots but eating more of the foods that satisfy you while losing weight. It all comes down to the number of calories per mouthful.

I walked 4 miles today. I was able to do a steady 19 minute mile. It felt good.
