It has been ages since I came here people. But its certainly nice to see you all.
I just want to say that video game is taking literally my happiness away. I can't get satisfied with ANYTHING I do. I tried studying my arse off, get fit (which I succeeded), wrote a song, practiced guitar fervously, and doing martial arts. Result is horrible. I don't get satisfied with pretty much ANYTHING except gaming. My psychologist was concerned about it as well, since I have quite severe depression and anxiety problem. What should I do about it? I tried literally everything except rehab program to quit the gaming. I always come back to it. I reinstalled online games hundreds of times now. I used to lend my laptop to my friend and told him to get a hold on it for months. When I actually got it back to do other stuff, that hooked me up to gaming almost immediately. I tried again and I ended up going to LAN cafes instead. Now I know this is not going to work. I tried scheduling, writing lists, limit myself, but nothing works. If the software automatically shuts down my PC, I get so mad at it and I delete the software as soon as I reboot. I really think I need help with this. This will eventually take my life away from me. What should I do? I'm currently studying in uni and the gaming is now actually hindering my academic performance. |

Hi! What does your psychologist say? You said he/she was concerned. I suggest you bring it up and ask to really work in therapy to get this issue addressed. I hope you will be able to get more control over this addiction before too long.

I am a recovering game addict, and decided to quit gaming 5 months ago with the help of an online fellowship for recovering gamers. It is a fellowship for people who want to quit gaming, and work on recovery. I could not quit gaming without their help. I recently suffered a relapse, but I am recovering. I would encourage you to quit gaming with support. If you know of a support group that can help you quit gaming, I would encourage you to join. It seems as if you cannot moderate your gaming, so quitting gaming would be the best solution. Please talk to your psychologist about this. Maybe he or she would have some suggestions for you....
