doesn't work? I guess one would say "help yourself." Usually a blanket answer I guess. Not like someone can say anything against it. You are responsible for yourself. You should help yourself. Though if it just feels like a merry-go-round what is the point. You know you're going to do the same things over and over again. Help is futile because it always ends up the same. At least for me.
Then at one point the ride ends and you get off. |

I know from my experiences...it's not always easy finding the "right" help and support. There is a combination of things that happen to start getting better or feeling better...and it takes time. Even with it taking time - mostly it should be going toward getting better - and still there are bad days.
I was not able to start helping myself very well until I had a better understanding of me, some meds to get my butt out of bed and keep away some of those crappy thoughts. And learning to change the way I think...and cope! One thing at a time. It's important to see any little good thing that happens and learn to dwell on that not the things that suck. Figure out how to get some joy out of the journey - instead of looking at "the end of the ride"

I know I could have never overcome my addictions by myself under my own power. I needed lots of help from lots of people.
I have not overcome my mental health issues with the help of others but it has made it much easier to deal with and accept. To live with and sometimes actually works in making it better. Sometimes I can fix my car on my own but often I don't have the tools and knowledge and have to go to a mechanic. The problem is the brain and mental illness is much more complicated than a car and maybe people don't understand it any better than I do. Maybe they don't have the answers to fix it but I need the support of others to validate me and help me along.

Recovery can be a painful process. Sometimes it takes a lot of work and strength you didn't know you had. It also takes you wanting to get better. You have to set your mind that you want to and will help yourself. No one can help you with anything unless you do your part too. You ARE worth all the effort and struggle. Life is worth it.
