27 years of age, up until 2 months ago I was fine, enjoying life. Although have always dealt with anxiety, stress, OCD.
Lots of stress in December and I started to notice that my mood was kind of down and I told my girlfriend that something is not right with me. Then this derealization feeling hits... Lasted a week and then I notice that my visual memories of surrounds starts to become more distant...you know your family, job and things like that feel very distant in your memories. Then one day I woke up like half of my brain was shut down... Like I'm trapped and I couldn't think.. Memories became so bad... Something I did few minutes ago become very fuzzy and perception of time was very off! It's like there is a huge fog surrounding my whole brain preventing me from thinking and remembering properly and it was hell and torturing. Everything just felt different. My psychologist didn't really help, she was saying prolonged stress and anxiety... I don't believe that, still waiting for my blood test result, doubt there will be anything. Next step would be a psychiatrist or neurologist Any ideas? This is life changing as it's affecting my job as a computer developer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It's like my brain is processing things differently. I still remember my old self and just want my old self back.
Everything does not register anymore as they used to. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Last edited by bluekoi; Jan 30, 2015 at 07:45 PM. |

Thank you for sharing this with us samguan.
I am glad to hear that you are seeing a psychologist, albeit that you do not think it's really helping and don't believe the opinion, there could be subtle strategies that you may have been using for the stress and anxiety. It will be interesting when your blood tests come back. I am thinking that at this stage you would be involved with a doctor if blood tests were ordered. From here, your doctor will be able to refer you to the most appropriate medical practitioner, be it a psychiatrist or neurologist or whomever your doctor feels would be most appropriate to your care. Let us know how you go. |

hi samguan
i agree. i would check with the doctor first, especially since they are easier to get into then a psychiatrist, and see what they would recommend. welcome to psych central. you will find we have several forums where you can post about your concerns and receive feedback from other members. you will get a lot of support here. again, welcome |
