everytime I'm in a long term relationship I tend to lose my sex drive I have no wants or urges and it's really hard on me and my b/f. So far I've been lucky that my current bf is patient and understanding and we've had schedules that don't work well for much time together. Its been almost 6 months since we were intimate. Usually the guy would have left me by now thinking I didn't love home because I become unaffectionate and don't want sex. When I'm single though I'm the opposite my sex drive goes through the roof. I don't want to lose my wonderful bf to this problem that has been with me for as long as I can remember.

Have you sought out a medical doctor or therapist for this drastic change in your sex drive? Could be something physical, emotional or both.

hi lonelygirl
i agree with healing. i would think it was something emotional causing this change when you have been in a relationship for a while. i would check with a therapist and try to see if some understanding could be found. welcome to psych central. you will find we have several forums where you can post about your concerns and receive feedback from other members. you will get a lot of support here. again, welcome ![]() |

The link below is to an article about sex that I found a couple of years ago. A friend and I had been talking at that time about the problems of sex and long-term relationships. I think this article has some good insights into psychological reasons why we may stop feeling attracted to someone when we live with them.

I haven't sought medical help because I can't afford it. I have tried other things like i stopped taking my birth control to remove the hormone aspect and I stopped taking welbutrine in case that was affecting me but no change.
