It is the first time I'm ever going to a mental help adviser but I'm sure that I don't wanna learn cope techniques. I have been dealing with anxiety and other disorders for more than 10 years. I was expecting to get prescribed some medicine and then perhaps I will consider therapy.
Should I cancel and try to get a psychiatrist? or is this a normal procedure? I don't want to waste time with an adviser telling me about why I feel how I feel and breathing and techniques.
Thanks for the advice

It is very helpful. I was against therapy for a long time. But now that I've been going, I feel a lot better. Most therapists are not going to prescribe meds without doing cognitive therapy too. Meds won't help all by themselves. I've learned that the hard way. Be open to counseling. It will help you!

Some places require you do a session with a therapist before you can get assigned a psychiatrist, and whether, you get a psychiatrist can depend on what the therapist recommends. This happens a lot at community mental health places, so that might be why you got a therapist.

I think you should get an appointment with the person who you made an appointment! Tell them.

Meds are not the only healing path. Time to face the causes of your anxiety. There are no quick fix for it. The needs for drugs is not the way to heal. You are just avoiding the issues you need to confront.

My psychiatrist is a proponent of the combination of therapy with meds. And its a good point about meds not being a solution. For some they do help. It's empowering I've found to address route causes of my stressors and navigate from the original response to feelings with relearning/retraining/redirecting my learned(through the years) responses with non medicinal alternatives. Of course, sometimes anxiety is what it is. Meds can help with therapy, reach that next level, where reactions become normalized and med free. Numerous anxiety meds can be dependency forming, hence the importance to minimize risk to the physical dependency.

A psychologist is a good start; if he/she thinks you need meds, they can refer you to a psychiatrist.

U made an appt with a psychiatrist u should have a psychiatrist. It's bs that they say ull see dr but instead get a lcsw. I'm not against therapy I just feel it's pretty much like false advertising. Make sure if u go when u get ur bill make sure u r not charge a dr bill. Ur not seeing a dr therefore they don't get to charge u for a dr.

I consider meds half of the solution. We need a closet full of coping skills to cope with life in a healthy wave. We could all use new and more effective skills.

My clinic requires three visits with t before being referred to the pdoc there. The wait to see pdoc was two months so it was helpful to see my t (psychologist) during the wait.

Hope things go well!
