I think "affirmations" got a bad rap from Al Franken's great Stuart Smalley sketches on Saturday Night Live. Does anyone find them useful?

I'd like to try them to help me get through difficult mornings. I have a great life -- wonderful family, great town, great dog, etc. I should be able to take a lot of comfort in that when I'm struggling. But it often doesn't seem to help. Is there a good way to put into words the fact that I have a great life and should just enjoy it for what it is rather than worrying about the future?

(Yes, I have OCD/anxiety.)

Anxiety is why one over worries. There are no quick fix such as a mantra. Self confidence helps over come anxiety. Therapy can help you understand it.
Thanks for this!

True, and therapy has given me some good tools for dealing with anxiety. I'm just going through a strange period in which I'm down and can't really explain why.
