How do you know if you have a mental disorder? If crazy people don't know there crazy but sane people know they are crazy then they aren't crazy? Schizophrenia runs fluently in my family my mom says she is worried I may have it now too because I am at that age and the way I am acting but I think she may be wrong I feel fine but how would I know?

I think only a doctor can officially diagnose you. This site has some schizophrenia info and screening quizzes that may help you. I am new too.

Welcome both you newbies! Waning moon, you have to stop and think why do you feel different? Then journal how you act different from others, the things you say or do. then discuss those with a counselor and they can help you see if you suffer from a disorder of any kind. I know what you mean. Many of us were raised in dysfunctional and toxic families which seems to be the new norm now that you don't know you aren't normal. So it takes anothers perspective to help us find out. Counselors are wonderful to go to and they can screen to see if you need to see a psychiatrist. they in turn can do the testing and then place us on a good medicine that will be compatible with what we need. i wish you all the best. it is not a bad thing rather a good thing to admit you are deficient in some areas and need help. we are all here to help one another, tc

So too consider how those around you react to you and your behaviour. Do you get frustrted by others behaviour too? If you are concerned talk to your family doctor. They can get things rolling for you by referring you to a mental health care professional.
