Lorazapam and paroxetine are the two medications I've taken for years for my depression. It certainly hasn't cured me but has helped me make it through some tough times. I'm trying to add Wellbutin to the mix now since I'm struggling . Also seeing a therapist twice a month.

Well I credit ECT with getting me out of the hospital. I suppose it can be credited with being a boost to recovery.

However, it is the CBT which I credit with getting me to where I am today. I actually started the program on account of my PTSD and Anxiety issues but it really was good for my Depression too. I now have strategies for coping with and challenging those core negative beliefs which tend to bring me down.

Wow! ECT I wasn't aware they were still doing that. I'm working on CBT myself now.

I'll give another kudo to ECT. And the only two meds that ever helped me were Nardil and my current generic Effexor.

My therapist and I started talking ECT again last year. I'm going to bring it up again.

Usually the depiction of ECT in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is what most people think of first.

It's nothing like that at all.

I've said enough about my feelings about CBT for the morning.

Well, I am bipolar, but lately I seem to have overcame it..

What helped? Spirituality. Getting a meaning in life, a drive, something to life for. Herbals. Keeping semblance of healthy diet. Good mix of people to have around me. Learning to channel the unwanted emotions. Learning to expand my comfort zone to be able go through the extremes functioning... and being able to create meaning of it and enjoy life despite feeling down.

I still have a SJW tincture and bach essences around, I do ocassionaly use them, but not really consitently.

ECT saved my life six years ago. I spent 2 months in the hospital for the Intense treatment and then weaned off of it, but I still am having monthly maintenance treatments.... I am on Effexor and a couple of other meds.. but if go even 5 weeks without ECT I start going down hill quickly.....

Realising that most people in tribal societies do not have any type of chronic depression and trying to live more aligned with that.

The Skeezyks is no longer on antidepressants, nor does he see a therapist. He simply relies on having a daily routine & making himself do what needs to be done, whether he wants to, or feels up to it, or not. Not doing so is simply not an option. He also does walking meditation & practices compassionate abiding...
