So after my first med evaluation I the Dr that performed it diagnosed me with disruptive mood dysregulation disorder. After doing some research online it says that this only diagnosed for children and young adults. I'm 36 years old so how can I be diagnosed with this if I don't meet he age criteria?

As for the meds, I was given the following.

Seroquel XR (Makes me want to sleep all day.)
Hydroxyzine Pamoate 25mg (Only seems to give me headaches)

Be wary of diagnoses. They can be helpful, like my PTSD diagnosis. However, they can be damaging and labeling, pinpointing you into a box. You are a beautiful, worthy human being deserving of a happy life. You may want to find another doctor if you didn't find it helpful. I had one doctor who said I was coping very well with my PTSD, and the first one said that I have been depressed most of my life, and probably will be most of the future. That made me feel quite horrible, and I complained to her supervisor and he was glad I said something. It's like telling a cancer patient there is no hope, which is not true.

Hello. So this is from the DSM-V: The onset of symptoms must be before age 10, and a DMDD diagnosis should not be made for the first time before age 6 or after age 18.

So if you don't fit the criteria for this, then I suggest you find a new doctor.

Social anxiety disorder, GAD, OCD, and panic attacks

Lexapro, 10 mg

some adults that I know have been diagnosed with this because they have temper tantrums\ uncontrollable bursts of anger\rage/ these outbursts of rage happens at least 3 times a week, self harm and do not have the basic bipolar problems of mania\manic symptoms. though this diagnosis is for children some adults do score on tests as having this disorder.

my suggestion is talk with the treatment provider that diagnosed you with this. they will be able to explain to you how and why you fit this diagnosis despite the fact that you are not a child. it may just be that the tests place you in that because you "better fit" this diagnosis vs others and having this label gets you the right treatment options for your problems.
Thanks for this!

Talk with the doctor. Launch communication. Why do they lean towards this diagnosis? What can they tell you about this diagnosis? What do they want you to learn about the diagnosis.

I wouldn't be so quick to jump to conclusions. If the doctor has his/her reasons they ought to b made known to you.

Incidentally, a good friend of mine was just told by her doctor her own symptoms resemble this Disorder. She is 32years old. She realizes in hindsite though, these symptoms have been present a very long time.

Thanks for the advice I go for a follow this week. As for your friend did they give her meds as well? What type of treatment are they recommending?
