I hate having pictures of myself. I rarely have my photo taken unless I have to update a social network profile picture, which is still very rare, maybe once every couple years, or getting an ID. Otherwise, I have no problem throwing pictures of me away and avoid photos of myself as much as possible, even in a group setting. I’d rather take a photo for someone else if they want me to rather than be in the picture. Anyone else like this? Just wondered.

Absolutely. I think the reality is that most people don't like photos and have to take like 10 to get a usable one. Also most people don't know how to take photos so there is some skill on the part of the photo taker too.

I'm this way, too. Friends get so mad at me when I don't want my photo taken, or when they say "Send pics of [insert whatever dress I wore to whatever event]." Um, no.
My hobby used to be photography, and I can't stand when people take a horribly unflattering photo of me and are like, "OMG!! It turned out so well!!" Really? You think that's what I look like. Or rather, you think that's what I want to have immortalized on paper (or digitized) that I look like. I just take selfies now, which people mock me for, but at least I can control lighting, angle, etc. It's still me, it's just not a washed-out version of me with 10 chins. |

I agree with you. I am the same way. I am never satisfied but I usually pick the one that seems to be the best out of several.

You bet I hate having my photo taken. It really riles me up when others take one of me. Yuk. How dare they without asking.

I look like I’ve put on weight. But my weights basically been the same since November. I just flucate 5 pounds. I’m wondering if it’s my clothes. I just took a picture of myself a few minutes ago, and I look pretty bad. My clothes don’t fit very well though. They are my work clothes so they are comfortable and slightly big.
I think I’d feel better if I lost 15-20 more pounds. When I wear men’s hoodies I look huge, but women’s hoodies I look pretty good. People say I don’t look like I’ve gained weight. People are telling me I look good. So I guess it’s just my perception. But for the past month I’ve hated every picture of myself. |

Lots of people do. Myself included.

I once had a friend who hated cameras so much that when he saw one he just ran. Took off and ran and hide literally. That was quite weird for an adult man. I tried to understand why someone taking his picture would be so bad that you needed to act really weird and be remembered by it. He answered me that he didn't want people to know what he looked like. I looked at him and stated that he has a look right now and that I can see him. He thought about it and then stated that no, people can still see him more in photos. I guess some stuff is hard to explain to others. Maybe it's like in real life I know he cannot see himself so I he don't have to have the feeling that I know he knows what he looks like. But if we reflect on a picture with him in it, he knows that I know he knows.

I know the feeling. At family gatherings I often tell people not to point there cameras at me.

Same. Especially if it is going to make me look bad or rediculous. I avoid it at all cost.

I am not sure how old you are but wait it gets worse when you age because you can see the bags that form under the eyes as you lose elasticity of the skin the face starts to sag.

This can be where survivors search for mother and father figures. Transference issues in counseling can occur and this is normal for childhood abuse survivors. |

I am 28. Yeah I know, it will get worse. And I have a slight paralysis on my face which also doesn’t help.

Same here. I only have my picture taken in special event. I would pose and pretend to see them, then I keep them without looking at them again.

Yeah same here. And in some cases if I received a copy of a photo of myself, I would secretly get rid of it later on when I am alone.

I agree, except even ten may not be enough. I cringe when people take my photo without my permission and can't stand the shock when I see they have posted them. I try to have them take the picture down but it is often far too late and everyone has seen them anyway.

It depends on what I’m wearing. I like the bathroom selfies I take though.
