When I lost my job I renegotiated my severance package up from what they were originally offering. In the final package that we settled on, the company agreed to keep my medical benefits going until Dec. 31, 2010.

I took in a prescription to my pharmacy on Friday and the pharmacy called me today to say that my insurance company had told them, that my coverage expired July 22!. I know it's a communications screw-up that will get sorted out eventually, but in the meantime I have to come up with $800 to pay for my meds. Guess that'll be on the old credit card.

This happenned to one other employee who left but had their benefits extended and I remember it took weeks to sort it out, so now I have something else to worry about on top of dealing with the insurance company about my settlement from the car crash.

I hate insurance companies.

Bummers. I hate insurance companies too. Ok, not too - more like nine hundred ninety nine times two.

Any chance your prescribing physician could "sample" you until you get this sorted?

I really hope your problem gets sorted soon SplitImage...

Insurance is great to have but the companies negotiate to their own advantage always.

If people the world over stopped paying their premiums for just one week the insurance companies would completely fold. They are money grubbing ratbags

There is only one way to win with them and that is to be a policy holder and investor that way you get both ways of claiming...

I still think Australias National Health Scheme is better than that of any other country and because of it those who can't afford health insurance still get medications and good medical care...that is only fair
