I captured a photo of the two babies in the nest with Phoebe in the the background perched on the branch behind.

It is fun and peaceful to watch them.

See their little eyes close like they've been doing all the work, lol
Meanwhile Phoebe races to get food for them and is getting smaller.

She flits around showing them how to fly and they are like ho hum, what is she doing?!

Hunny... any chance you can post the pic your captured?

Did anyone else see on of the babies fly. According to the chatters she has been back to the nest to try to encourage her brother or sister? to follow. So far no luck apparently.

I am watching with a split sceen while I am doing some work. I have the volume on so the fluttering cues me to look. I just happened to look the very second she took flight.

Sooooo cool.
Thanks for this!

Hi Jewels,

Here is the link but unfortunately the nest is empty. Now that they are both gone we are not likely to see them again.

But if it is anything like the last time Phoebe will be fixing up another nest to do it all again. She is one busy mamma!

My 9 yr old daughters teacher wants the class to watch the hummingbirds. Does anyone know when she'll be laying again?

I know it's going to be soon lynn.........I remember reading something like two weeks in between fledging and laying new eggs. It doesn't seem possible but that's why it stuck out in my mind. If I come back across it I'll pass on what I find. What a great experience for your daughter's class to be able to watch......
Thanks for this!

Thanks to my pals greylove and sundog. I gave both links to my daughters teacher. Right now they're studying structures made by man and other living things, so birds nests would be part of that.
