Hey Happycheeks, thanks for the thread...
Cheering up when down is one of the most difficult things for me.
I tend to wallow. It's usually my intense need for a shower that makes
me get up and move. Once I get up and get in the shower the mood
follows. Does that count?

I will usually workout. I run and lift weights and it makes me feel better about myself.

I do that sometimes when I'm really depressed.

Hi Sundog.....I also talk to my animals(e.g. the cat girls)...and hopefully no one is listening because if they did...well it wouldn't be pretty.........the white coats would come.....LOL......The cats enjoy the conversation because they don't know a single word....probably thank goodness!!!

Read the Bible. When anxiety hits also take a hot shower & wash the icky feeling away. Of course, love on my eskie dogs.....they are good at licking the tears away & snuggling to let me know how much they care.

In good weather, usually going out & riding my horse is a good thing to fix feeling bad also.....there are so many things that help.....the main thing is getting my mind our of where it was when it was feeling bad.

I like to do watercoloring, drawing, scrapbooking, playing video games or going for a nice long walk. Sometimes I go and play basketball or take my son to the park and play there.

I wish there was something I could do to cheer myself up when I'm feeling bummed. Oftentimes, if I try to do something, I end up self-sabotaging that effort by telling myself, "You can't fool ME!! I KNOW what you're doing! You're not REALLY having fun. You're just doing this to cheer yourself up. Yeah, you thought you could slip one passed me, didn't you? Well, you CAN'T! So, quit acting like you're having fun, because you aren't. You can't be having fun because you're BUMMED right now, REMEMBER???".

So, I just end up waiting it out, knowing that "this too shall pass."

It's amazing how stupid I can be when I'm bummed. Actually, it's pretty funny! As in humorous funny!

Oh well. No one said I was the brightest bulb in the pack.

If I am really bummed, I knitt or plan a knitting or weaving project because I really can get caught up in it and it loses the "I'm doing this to distract myself" feel. Weight lifting is nice, but I always fear I will lose it and send one of them through the wall, and as this s a log house, well, it wouldn't be pretty, that's all. I have enough lincoln logs to pick up as it is.
I call a friend who has a bizarre sense of humor who can come up with all sorts of reasons to dust myself off and get moving. If I can't call her, I can always have imaginary conversations with her or a few others I know and that usually cheers me up for a while. If I am really cycling, nothing really bites permanently, so I have to keep at it.

I do things I can succeed at, like counting backwards to zero from one.
Thanks for this!
