I found this funny and don't wish to offend anyone.

I have to have a tooth pulled due to it breaking and not having enough left to save. So I call the oral surgeon today and he asked me where I worked. I told him "Comprehensive Mental Health Services" and he said "Oh you work for 'THOSE' people." Little does he know that I am one of "those" people.

Hahaha, you have to wonder how someone can think it's okay to say things like that! I would have said 'I AM one of those people...'

Kind of along the same lines: I once called for an ambulance for myself because I had really bad food poisoning, no gatorade in the house, no one else home, and I was on the verge of passing out from loss of fluids and resulting low blood pressure. The guy asked me, "Do you have mental problems?" I said, "Yeeesss, but that's not what this is." Fortunately they came before I died naked on the toilet like Elvis!
Thanks for this!

I have a story for you now! It just happened about 5 minutes ago...
I am having a blood test today, and I'm terrified of needles, so I use this stuff called Elma which is a local anesthetic. Well after you put it on you put these patches over the top to keep the Elma in place, and I couldn't understand why they weren't sticking. Then I realised... I was sticking the wrappers to my arms instead...

And now I've just failed even more by not realising the actual patch was just a thin piece of plastic, and not the paper it was attached to, so I've been sitting here for half an hour wondering how I'll get ready because I couldn't move my arms.

I hope you're okay! Should you have waited til you got to the dr's office to put the patches on? I'm confused, but I understand if you can't reply. I hope you can call for help if you need it!

Thank you ALL for these posts. It provided the needed giggle that I needed to night.

Butterfli, I hope that you, ya know, being one of THOSE people" does okay with the tooth extraction.

Hankster, don't you SEE how it's obvious that a person has mental problems if they have food poisoning?! Geez ... don't you know those go hand in hand?! (Note: PURE sarcasm!)

Evening ... OMG ROFLMAO! Needed that!

BTW, WTF do people think? Or NOT think?!

Not intentionally hijacking this thread but as the biggest coward on earth when it comes to needles AND having to have blood tests every 4-6 months, what is the "patch" y'all have mentioned?

I'm so lily-livered I have to have a baby needle for a nuclear stress test.

It takes everything I've got just to stagger from my car to the lab. The second the test is done, I'm totally a happy camper and have no trouble until the next time I have to go in.

I've never heard of anything to use before or during a blood test.

The patch itself is just to keep the anesthetic in place and so it doesnt go everywhere when you move around, like get on your clothes and such. The cream is called elma cream, it may be something different where you are. You should be able to just ask for it when you go to have your blood test done. Otherwise use something like toothache gel or stuff for insect bites and it should numb the spot somewhat. It takes an hour to work. As for why I put it on before I got to the office, you dont need to make an appointment for the blood test you can just go straight in. If youve ever tried using anesthetic while you are waiting for a blood test youll have endured the 'it only takes a second', 'its only a little prick' from everyone in the room. Even the pathologist today found it amusing. I was hiding my face and close to tears because I was freaking out, so dont push your luck! At least I showed up!

The worst part of the extraction was the shots to numb me up. I had it done at 11am and 12hrs later it is still bleeding. I haven't had anything nutricious today because I can hardly open my mouth.
Glad some people found this thread funny.
