Sadly, $1,500 really doesn't buy that many textbooks.

Good point, but the real question is, why are we as a society here in the 21st century, still loading our children with textbooks in the first place?
Would it not be a hell of a lot cheaper to for our school systems to cut a deal with Amazon and buy Kindles for all of kids. With bulk buying power they probably could be made available for as little as twenty dollars a pop. All of the text books K-12 could easily be loaded on the machines. It would save the taxpayers a fortune and free up more money for building construction and maintance, programs, hiring teachers etc... |

I agree, and the cost of textbooks shouldn't fall on parents of kids in high school and under. Children are entitled to an education; therefore, they are entitled to what they need for that education. Pens, pencils, books, notebooks, markers, etc. I know most public schools can't afford it these days, but I'm just sayin'. Legally, I don't think that should fall on parents.
In college, you can get some books in e-book form, but not all. For any student, it's a health issue if they have to carry heavy textbooks vs. a Kindle or whatever with all their books electronically saved.
