It might just be the two of us that care. Luckily, we're on the same side!

The most interesting part of this thread is to know how many people from NC are on PC. But Dean Smith does look good. (is red the correct color?)
Thanks for this!

obviously a move from someone who never lived in an ACC college town. There, it's part of you - not just a game.
This thread has as much to do with psychotherapy as "the couch", Apteryx. you haven't asked to have that one moved have you?

I'm not from NC but both my T and I have UNC on our resumes. It gave us a link that I didn't expect, a non threatening common ground that allowed us to share memories and humor and that helped me open up to her, because I have (major) trust issues.
Thanks for this!

How cool is that? My former therapist and I also both had UNC on our resumes.

UNC has educated a lot of people evidently. I think they kick out exemplary therapists.

I agree, while I adore the couch, that thread has a mind of its own. I do like cool whip!

I also agree that talking about ACC basketball is like talking about the weather. It's just soooo common - especially now that March Madness is almost here. Even my therapist and I talk about it now.

It's like a blanket across the south/mid atlantic for some. An immediate common bond.

And yes, we have to include the dookies.

don't think for a minute that it can't happen.

SAWE: Last week I was sitting at a light, and this car pulled up along side of me.
The guy leaned out his window and said with a **** ***** grin, "We. beatcha."
And then he drove off so I could see his Duke bumper sticker .

T: And how did that make you feel?

SAWE: I went back to work the next day and took it out on a co worker who went to NC State. But I found out there's no satisfaction in that - it was too easy. Like shooting fish in a barrel.

T: (nods)

My PDOC is a dookie, and yet somehow I connected with her despite that.

Sorry if this thread placement has offended anyone. I didn't want that. I just spend most of my time on-line in the pysch thread, it's almost the only place I post. OK with me if it gets moved.

For what's it's worth, I also asked to have this thread moved. And I attended undergrad at Maryland, so I've lived in an ACC college town.

This board is meant to help people with life issues particularly related to psychotherapy. A non-related thread takes away board space from someone who might need help or have concerns related to therapy.

I have been very surprised that the couch threads were allowed to stay on the boards, but I have seen first hand that they do have the capacity to help people with their therapy.

Now that I've said my piece and probably sound like a jerk, I'll get off my soapbox.

It might be kept in mind that 'support' can be of many kinds - including humor and relaxation.

We can't be handing out kleenexes to each other ALL the time.

how does it go - "a merry heart doeth good like a medicine."

the couch has a lot to do with T and helps me with my T and processing a lot and also am able to be distracted when needed to get out of my head after a bad session. must say i am surprised about feelings some have posted here about the couch.

Are we talking about both men's and women's teams here? I gave up basketball when Pat Summit was diagnosed with early onset dementia.

I never found men's basketball interesting. But I used to watch a lot of college women play.
