Attitude Determines Attitude

I woke up early today, excited over all I get to do before the clock strikes midnight. I have responsibilities to fulfill today. I AM IMPORTANT. My job is to choose what kind of day I am going to have.

- Today I can complain because the weather is rainy, or I can be thankful that the grass is getting watered for free.

- Today I can feel sad that I don't have more money, or I can be glad that my finances encourage me to plan my purchases wisely and guide me away from waste.

- Today I can grumble about my health, or I can rejoice that I am alive.

- Today I can lament over all that my parents didn't give me when I was growing up, or I can feel grateful that I was allowed to be born.

- Today I can cry because roses have thorns, or I can celebrate that thorns have roses.

- Today I can mourn my lack of friends, or I can excitedly embark upon a quest to discover new relationships.

- Today I can whine because I have to go to work, or I can shout for joy because I have a job to do so.

- Today I can complain because I have to go to school, or I can eagerly open my mind and fill it with rich new tidbits of knowledge.

- Today I can murmur dejectedly because I have to do housework, or I can feel honored because I have shelter for my mind, body and soul.

- Today stretches ahead of me, waiting to be shaped. And here I am, the sculptor who gets to do the shaping.

- What today will be like is up to me. I get to choose what kind of day I will have.

I'm trying my best to do this. I just wanted to share.

Love-Jenn

Today, I can whine and moan because the wind is blowing like a banshee, rattling cans, the awning, etc... or I can smile because it's blowing all extraneous stuff away from the outside of my house, I can laugh at the cat chasing a leaf blowing by and I can teasingly ask my dog "Whazdat???" and watcher her go from window to window trying to find out. I like your can do's, Tomi! I'm trying to see the cup half full! Today it's been workin' out pretty well!

I can complain that my dog barks and goes nuts when he hears any little sound at all, or I can be thankful that he would try to protect me if he needed to. Attitude Determines Attitude

I'm sure I can think of more of these ... lol

I keep thinking about perception and taking things personally too. I went to the post office today and there was a car sitting crooked in two spaces and that made me angry and then I suddenly remembered that I had no way of knowing what was happening when that car got there; could have been another car, now gone, that was crooked forcing that car to park crooked or maybe the person whose car it is is handicapped and needs extra space or the parking lot has been paved with tiny spaces that are too small for today's cars and the person needed/wanted more space, etc. At any rate, it wasn't either my problem or something someone did just to spite me :-) That all reminded me of when I see trucks in lanes where no trucks are supposed to be or trucks/commercial vehicles on parkways where they're not supposed to be, etc. and how I'd get all upset until I realized the rules are for the road, not the people, the road wears out easier so that all isn't about or "for" me either. I get so busy running the world that I don't have enough time to get my own act straight :-)
