So tomorrow I have another job interview. I should be happy, right? Instead, I just wonder what reasons these people will find for rejecting me.

Yes, there's a back story of rejection, most recently being rejected to continue on in a job I've held for the past year as a full-time -- but okay if I stay on part-time for 40% of the per diem that a f/t makes. Whilst 3 other people WERE hired f/t.

And of course what seems like a lifetime of rejection, of not being good enough . . . and now I look at my face in the mirror and I don't have the youth and beauty that used to make men want to have me around . . .

I have a bad attitude, yes, but it honestly seems realistic not pessimistic.

Thanks for letting me whine.

Nasty little voice in your head ... I'm sorry, I understand the reason why you'd find reasons for people rejecting you. (I do it too...)

Good luck, like others have said they'd be ridiculous for not hiring you!

Thank you, everyone. You are so kind and supportive. I wish I could hug each and everyone of you personally.

I am so wrung out by the last job rejection; I honestly thought people there liked and respected me, that I had found a place where I was valued; and I gave the job at least 110%. I have no social life, and a job and income are really all that matter to me. Maybe it shouldn't be that way, but it is.

I was so insecure that I wanted to walk out in the middle of the day, before I did my teaching demonstration.

These are all-day events, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a lunch in the middle, which I can't eat because I just get gassy or have diarrhea, disastrous at such a time.

Well, it's over, and I had something to eat, and now I am trying to complete my assignment for an online course I have to take to get ready for an online gig next week.

Again, I very much appreciate the love and support your brought here. Thank you.

Pickle, what is your bad attitude about? A negative, self-defeating attitude toward life in general? Toward job interviews in particular?

I beat myself up for days for every possible less than perfect response I made during the interview. Then I discovered that I had overdrawn my checking account for the second time this year, once again because I stupidly forgot to check whether an electronic deposit was actually in the account. It wasn't -- what I thought was the paper proof of deposit was actually a check!

Finally, I started putting back together my book shelves, which I have just rebuilt, and seeing the mess start to get cleaned up is nice and gave me a small flush of relief from all this self-criticism and pain.

I use to get depressed and feel so ashamed because I'd totally foul up my checking account and have to literally changed banks to get straight again. But then I took professional aptitude testing http://www.jocrf.org/ and found I didn't have a "clerical" aptitude (nothing to do with typing or filing :-) and needed to buy a calculator (this was the 1970s when they were just coming out and were still a bit expensive) and work harder at balancing my checkbook, that it had nothing to do with my education or what I thought I should be able to do. That was so freeing for me! It wasn't "my" fault and there were things I could do to help myself. I immediately stopped changing banks and made myself work on financial tangles until I untangled them, it was easier since I'd decided it was just a hard problem, not something indicative of my character :-)
