Telephone added to it the computer/smart phone & all the social media attached to it & the camera.....it has created a communication as was never possible before....TV brought a new level of powerful communication at the time of Kennedy & his assassination & with technology being made smaller & smaller & more & more portable & powerful for the individual person's ability to own......life is nothing like it was back in the 60's. The growth has been exponential on comparison as to how slow things were invented in earlier times.

Every invention was important as the stepping stone for the next phase & development.

Self Governance

We take this idea for granted because it is the norm for all of us here. However the idea that people are sovereign unto themselves, with the ability to elect and employ those folks to carry out their collective will is still a relatively new idea in human history.

entrepreneurship

We often take this for granted too, but it is the ability to choose to work directly for one's own benefit that has led to almost every major innovation in the last 200 years.

the absolute nuclear family

The concept, which originated with Germanic tribes during the Roman empire, and passed on to England during the middle ages, is in large part responsible for the rapid rise of the US to pre-eminent world power. Our political/social/and economic structures our founded on the ANF.

Water is putrid in south Australia and must be filtered.

Some really great suggestions here though.

The washing machine, I don't know how anyone could ever cope without one.
I know years a go everyone did their washing by hand and when I think of that I imagine how it was, I wash everyday so yeah I go with the washing machine.
Thanks for this!

Without filtered and safe water, not much else is gonna happen, anywhere....

I am speaking historically. Safe drinking water was at the forefront of everything that followed , socially and medically.
