Friends,

My goodness I was writing to a friend today, and I remembered the first Thanksgiving I was with my husband. I made duck l'orange, and we sat on the floor.

It takes a concerted effort for me to get off the couch these days. Anyone want to guess how many years ago that first Thanksgiving was for me?

How about some more Thanksgiving stories.

EJ

I remember one thanksgiving, it was the first one at a particular church and the deacons waited til my then spouse was gone from the house...and they brought me a live turkey (they were turkey farmers) and asked if I'd like to have it for Thanksgiving dinner.

Sure. They ahem did'em in right there and gave him to me, walking about smirking. I went about dressing it out Thanksgiving Musings

I was the first lady they had done that to over all the years, that actually knew what to do and didn't flinch! LOL

I'm glad my came frozen. I've decided to cook it on Monday, and graze on it during the week.

Bebop,

Thanks for pointing out I was probably sounding like a "snot" with my duck l'orange. It was what my husband asked for that year.

Hugs,

EJ

Tanya,

Mind you there is no timetable or funding for this yet, but when I get my house remodeled and enlarged, you can come see some of the most beautiful American prairie there is and enjoy Thanksgiving with us. I am a really good cook.

Hugs and love,

EJ

Thanksgiving is only bigger than Christmas on Thanksgiving!!! LOL

Yes, most of us do celebrate being thankful on that day, while many of us think back to the original thanksgiving day when the Native Indians bailed the dying pilgrims out... and then when they lived through and actually had a harvest of crops the next year or so. Most of the Europeans died. I can only imagine their fortitude...and their faith in God.

Of course, we are also thankful for parades and footballs teams and games Thanksgiving Musings

Wow... I knew it had something to do with pilgrims and indians, but I didn't know that's what happened... No wonder it's such a big celebration!
