These are some lyrics from the song King without a Crown by Matishyu (something like that). Well after listening to it numerous times, I finally understood some of the lyrics. Only I can perceive what they truly mean and how they relate to me, so I was wondering what ya'll thought.

"Strip away the layers and reveal your soul"
That pretty much sums that up, meaning strip away the shallow existence that the world expects from you, and reveal something real.

"Got to give yourself up and then you become whole"
Like the Taoist and Buddhist believe, completely tuning out the fabricated life man has created and finding the true "self". You'd have to give parts of yourself that make you apart of the streamline.

"You're a slave to yourself and you don't even know"
This is clear, I think we all subconsciencly do things to feel fit with society, we collect material objects to feel full and satisfied. That in it's self can become enslaving and ritualistic.

"You want to live the fast life but your brain moves slow"
People, instead of slowly taking in and adapting to the world around them, move as quickly as possible hoping to reach higher and higher and be satisfied in life. By the time they reach that goal appointed top, they learned nothing and live ignorantly.

"If you're trying to stay high then you're bound to stay low"
People may perceive this differently if they never experienced drug use, but how I take it is, yes you can stay high but ultimately it will ruin you livelihood and make life sadly unbearable.

"You want G-d but you can't deflate your ego"
I personally take this as you want something of knowledge, a higher entity, yet you allow the ego to convince you there is no need.

I'm bored...yeah.

But what I wanted to basically ask is if there is a song out there that has lyrics that reach out to you....if so, what is it?

Mellors, yeah, he looks like an ortodox jew. I don't like Rap, but he for sure can get you thinking.
Desirae, I know there has been some songs that really describe how I felt, but my memory is so gone, I can't think of any right now.

Yes, it's the Jewish guy, and if you were to look through all the lyrics you would see the name of jewish religous leaders and prophets. I think it's unique and different....we hear Christian songs all the time, sometimes without even knowing it. I just wanted to state it...thanks
