Hello!
I was thinking about a plastic surgery (don't judge me, please) and found out that tons of celebrities have plastic surgeries ![]() Would you get a plastic surgery if you have the time and the money? What type of plastic surgery would you get? What are your biggest fears about plastic surgeries? ![]() What do you believe about these stars? Which one of them had a plastic surgery (or more)? Goldie Hawn (Botox counts too), Jocelyn Wildenstein (one picture) or Elsa Patton (one picture). Let's talk about this subject ![]() |

There are things I would definitely have done if I had the money- like scar reduction/ removal and fixing my nose which is somewhat wonky since a car accident. Probably liposuction because who doesn't wish they could lose weight without trying? And a couple more personal things.
In terms of other things though what worries me is that I have a very unstable sense of self. Some days I can look in the mirror and be okay with myself others I think I'm absolutely hideous so I'm never too sure if something really is an issue. Many of those issues are also pretty severe structural issues like my forehead is too high or my brow is too low they aren't something easily changed and I really don't want to end up like some of those celebrities you've already mentioned. |

I had a rhinoplasty done around 15 years back and I would certainly do it again if I could go back. My nose had been broken from bullying and I hated seeing it every time I saw my own reflection.
After I had it done I experienced a boost in my self-confidence, but that didn't last forever. Eventually I just found some other part of my appearance to obsess over. I think why some celebrities do it is because they - more than anyone else - are constantly reminded of how they can look at their best. Even the male celebrities have makeup teams fix them up for interviews, photo shoots, etc and are expected to maintain a certain physique. Whenever people see them them, they would be expecting to see the look that the celebrity is known for. I'd expect that would make them hyper-critical about how their appearance, and prone to going to extreme lengths to achieve or hold onto that look. |

I believe in each to their own and if it is right for you or whomever, then go for it,
![]() Personally, as much as sometimes I see fantastic results, it is the ones that are botched that scare me and keep me from doing it. As much as I would like to take care of certain things in my appearance, I admit, I am too chicken. So I will have to to ascribe, in particular, to the lines in my face as being my 'character/jolly' lines meanwhile. ![]()

Absolutely not. I was born with this body. It would feel creepy and weird to get plastic surgery, ... that said, the idea of any surgery feels horrible and invasive, to me. Fair enough if there's a tangible medical reason, but otherwise, I just don't see the point. As for that other reason: if someone is that depressed about how they look, they should combat that, not cover it up with surgery. That's just my opinion, anyways.

I would have some work done for sure! I need to have a full abdomino plasty (tummy tuck) done. I had c-sections for both babies and then went on high doses of steroids for a medical condition. In order for me to have an even semi normal belly is to have this surgery. IT IS SURGERY though and a major one! I would have to stay in hospital for four days at least where normal no diseased people stay maybe one night... I will not be able to have it done because of the stay...i suppose I shall have to learn to live with the belly. Weight loss does not make it go away. Celebrities do these things, in my opinion, to prolong careers and meet the standards in which the public will accept them. Poor lot to have drawn I think.

Thanks for the replies.
@BeteNoire - I forget to add the idea after a car accident. I think it's somehow normal for people/celebrities to get plastic surgeries after car accidents. I remember Rose Mcgowan got a plastic surgery after her car accident in 2007, but not she looks awesome. "After I had it done I experienced a boost in my self-confidence, but that didn't last forever. Eventually I just found some other part of my appearance to obsess over." - I believe you nailed it. We do one thing, but there are tons of other things that remain to obsess us. "are constantly reminded of how they can look at their best" - yes. If they have money, I think they will do everything they can in order to look at their best. "It would feel creepy and weird to get plastic surgery" - I understand your opinion, but what about people that are involved in car accidents or related accidents? |

Had I the money I'd get an eye lift. My eyes have too much skin, but I don't want to end up with that pulled back look either, just a reduction.
Then pay a chief to cook only fresh foods and a personal trainer to help me at home....I hate doing PT and weight training around others. With these two things I wouldn't need Liposuction. Some stars go too far and end up looking terrible, not like themselves at all. I can see why they do it, It's a tough competitive field if you aren't a character actor. Over all I prefer the actors from over the pond, they don't seem to go for the knife as drastically as American actors do and look much more interesting.

Sidestepper, try Facercise. Book costs about $10 or get it at the library. She has a website too. Very good exercises that do make a difference. I'm old and I still get compliments on my skin, and I attribute a good chunk of that to Facercise. (Also I love veggies.)
I might get some saggy old skin excised, but that's it. Not on my face, either.

The plastic surgeons I've encountered (I work in an operating room) are extremely meticulous about their work. The post about plastic surgery after a car accident is spot on -- many times after people have experienced a traumatic accident, they might have their lives back but they are left with many issues and require reconstruction to have increased function -- facial reconstructions are important and something called "free flaps" or "tram flaps," when they take skin an muscle tissue from a donor or another part of the patient's body to "patch" someone up. They also are the ones to reattach fingers after traumatic amputations. Quite amazing, really.
Plenty of people get plastic surgery every day for many reasons.. breast implants following a mastectomy, etc. Celebrities populate the plastic surgery wards because their career depends on their looks. They are under the scope of the entire world, not just their own mirror in their own bathroom. Some celebrities are judged on the merit of their work - music, acting, etc.. Most are not (so it seems). |

tbh we as "regular people" expect perfection and nothing less from celebrities. That's why both men and women get plastic surgery, to appeal to both sexes. I think a lot of celebs are very very attractive without surgery, but how often have you overheard people looking at a magazine and completely tearing apart a celeb for not having "big enough eyes"? Or "her nose is too big"? Or even "too bad he is a little too scrawny"?
For instance, I think Catherine Zeta-Jones is gorgeous. She was gorgeous before the surgeries, too. She looked more "exotic" and I think her exotic look is why she can get a variety of roles that the typical "American looking" actress can't get. But looking more "Anglo" is desirable. People have expectations about looks. I have expectations, but I am mindful not to be too harsh. I mean, if your teeth are green I'll think that's weird but if they are a bit big who cares at least they are real teeth. If I could get plastic surgery, I'd fix my huge @ss nose. |

Have you ever seen celebs who have gotten plastic surgery.....I mean have you ever seen them 15-20 years after the surgery? They don't age well because the natural parts of their face age, well, naturally, while the "spruced up" parts don't age the same way. It makes for an odd looking face!
However, having said that, I AM planning on getting a neck lift IF I end up inheriting my mom's and grandmom's turkey neck, lol. It is the ONLY thing I will consider at this point. My cousin once gave me the snarkiest comment....she meant well, lol. She said "I always hated my nose until I saw it on you because it's really cute on you!" I didn't quite know what to say.... Long lost cousin whom I didn't meet until we were both well into adulthood. Funny, because we look very different, but have two body parts that say "yep, we're DEFINITELY related!" But yes, I have the "family nose" and even though its not the cutest or the most slender, it is MINE and I won't trade it for the world. I just think of Jennifer Grey who lost her celeb status and was relegated to lifetime movies after she had a nose job. Yeah, I do look to her mistake to realize that I'm fine with what I've got! |

When celebrities get plastic surgery done, they obviously have some sort of insecurity about themselves. Also, it's what the public wants. The media craves for bodies that are "near perfect".
Sadly I am among many teenage girls who would do anything to have a better looking figure. The good thing is that I'm getting correction surgery for my breasts after I turn 18. My right breast had tissue removed went they were taking out my esophagus during surgery back in 2001. It didn't grow properly along with my rotated ribcage. So now my left side looks bigger and has more volume than my right.

I am surprised you are surprised celebrities (most, probably) get plastic surgery. They're in an industry where looks matter, and getting older, especially for women, limits the roles available to them.
I absolutely would love to have some plastic surgery, had I the money and if I didn't have panic disorder. However, I want to lose all my excess weight first. And I'd prefer to be younger, because I'd have better skin and probably would recover faster. One thing I'd like done is my eyes. You can hardly see my lower eyelids, because the upper eyelids hang down and block most of the view. Even when I was young, this was a problem, but it's worse, now that I'm older. I love eye shadow, but when you can't see all the colors, it's like wasting money. That isn't all I want. I would love breast implants, not for size, but for lifting and giving roundness. I can get a breast lift (without implants), but they'd still be saggy-looking (I've looked at post-surgery images of breast lifts, as well as other plastic surgeries). I'd like some Restalyn (or whatever it's called) to plump up some of my facial skin and lips, but I don't want to look fake. I'd like my hands to look younger. Oh, poo! Let's get real, shall we? I don't want these surgeries, I just want to be young and beautiful forever! ![]() I will give a piece of advice: If you go for any plastic surgery, get it done by a board-certified surgeon, don't look for discounts (not when it comes to surgery!), and ask to see photos of the doctor's actual patients, before and after. Don't assume if you see a photo album in the waiting room, or pictures on the walls, that that's the work of the doctor(s) in that office. ASK! Sometimes doctors use images that are for selling the surgery, but are not photos of their own actual work.
