What are you doing for Valentine's Day?

I have the great pleasure of announcing that I'm going to go on a date on Valentine's Day. I've met a really nice guy on POF (Plenty of Fish: an online dating site), and we've been texting for a few nights already. Now we are making plans to meet up for the first time at a mall on Saturday.

I am so excited to have something to do on the big day. Usually the 14th consists of me sitting at home, eating chocolate out of a heart shaped box (that I bought for myself), and either playing a game, or watching whatever looks good on Netflix or TV. I've only had one V Day that I've spent with a boyfriend, and that relationship ended a few years ago.

So, what are you all doing for this year's Valentine's Day?

As a 60 year old single female, I am going to happily stay home and veg in front of the TV.

We still have Godiva chocolates left from Christmas so no need to buy candy. I'm not looking for a boyfriend or girlfriend so I'll probably do my usual and surf the internet and play video games.

I'm happy that you have a VD date - it makes me smile.

I have no plans at all related to VD and feel just fine about that. Okay, maybe I'm a little sad that an expensive box of handmade chocolates won't be appearing in my life tomorrow.

I don't feel well enough to deal with dates or a relationship or a person in my house at the moment. Maybe I will again at some time in the future.

I talked to my therapist about this this week, and she laughed when I said that I have a vague sense of concern that I am not at all concerned about not having a relationship now. I feel like it would be normal for me to want one, but I don't right now.

I have a date as well, only he's gay. He's a close friend and wants to treat a lady to a dinner and a movie. I think it's super sweet.

I'm not doing anything either. I've only ever spent Valentine's day one time with a boyfriend but that was two years ago, and we broke up a year ago. I felt anxious earlier in the week because I felt lame for not going on a date or being able to give gifts that special person. I'm not in a relationship either. But after reading an article online about embracing 'the single life', the anxiety eased a bit. I've been focusing a lot on myself, though sometimes it's hard (I'm so used to taking care of others that I don't really give a lot of time to myself - but that's changing).

I don't hate the holiday. I like V day a lot actually but it makes it more fun when you're having fun and celebrating with everyone, too

Sleeping. I've been under the weather the last few days but can't afford to call off work, and it's been crazy with a 3 day weekend coming up.

Plus to be honest, I despise Valentine's Day with a total passion. It's a wonderful reminder of how pitifully lonely I am and wonder if I will always be.

Just remember that it's just another day like any other. You won't be forever alone. Reach out to people in your support network and build on those relationships. Enjoy the time you have for yourself, being you and go out and do something fun. Hope you feel better.

I get the feeling that you'r always going to be lonely on valentines. I remember finding out the only valentine I ever got was from my sister like a week after Valentines, and being about 14 and having a boy i used to know knock on my door at around 9pm and I was all, what's happenign and he wanted me to give him the number of a girl who i went to school with (but didn't know)/. But I'm going to spend today with friends even though not with lovers, doing things I like (or i will be if i can force myself out of my house) and that seems a pretty fab Valentines day. What I mean is ak482 be my valentine - because you won't always be lonely, I'm pretty sure on that xx

I will be doing homework and I suppose my husband and I may go out for dinner later that day.. or something along that line. I'm not really into Valentine's day... just another commercial holiday in my opinion.

Just another day, I was hoping a bit that this year would be different. Was seeing someone for 3 months, but he has showed his "true colours" lately. Guess I'm not gf material, lol. So, it is a deep freeze here, I have no car, and I woke up way too early as usual.... maybe take a nap, find a good movie on the net, find ways that my son and I can enjoy this long weekend... sigh
maybe have a few imaginary dates too, nothing wrong with that

Most of my heart got ripped out long ago.
I usually help a friend of mine think of something nice and original to do for his GF, but never make plans for myself.
To me Valentine's is just a day when everyone babbles on about love and in the process makes me lonelier then usual.

I am not currently seeing anyone which is fine at the moment as I do need a break.

But my mom was just diagnosed with colon cancer so last few days including V day were spent in the hospital room with other family members
