It's Spring again. I was completely mad last year, but I'm better. I planted herbs and an Avocado tree. It was my first. The lemongrass still looks good. The baby avocado trees are beautiful. I live in the desert, so growing is a challenge. The avocado trees are in the house. I never thought I had a green thumb! Right, is that what we call it. I'm happy. Could be elated but I have a mental illness among other things. Thanks for dropping by leave a comment. I want to plant again, but not sure.

Readyread, avocado trees are pretty. They would make nice inside plants.

I love working in the yard. It seems I add a new flowerbed every year. Am thinking of trying some veggies this year. The problem is my chickens dig up the seeds.

Lol. Chickens will do that! I'm thinking of getting chickens this year. I had them before and ducks too. We enjoyed the eggs.

We used to spend winters in Az. Cave Creek is a beautiful place. Do the mule deer eat any of your plants?
Yesterday we had 2 deer in our yard. Hope they didn't munch the perennials that were coming up. We live on the edge of the woods so we do get some wildlife........beautiful eagles too.
There is a garden social group here. Not much action at the moment.
Do the coyotes bother the chickens? You probably have them fenced ??

Herbs are great you can make tea and salads. Home depot has herb plants.

We are more near the out skirts of Cave Creek. We get javelinas, coyote, hawks, smaller animals. We have a stucco wall and fence.
Thanks for this!

Something killed one of my two chickens about a month ago. Might have been a coyote, but I don't know. There are some dogs that wander the area too. The one I have left was so miserable locked in the coop by herself I started leaving the door open for her. I figure it's better she have a happy life, even if something gets her than be miserable.

I have eight chicks in a pen in the house. They are little bitty peeps, way too small to go in the coop yet. When they are big enough I'll move them to the coop.

We used to get wild cats. It's possible. I've seen hawks, wild cats and coyote eat our chickens. Chickens can have different colors. We had the white speckled chickens, reddish color and black color. There feathers are pretty when they are chickens

The adult hen is a Rhode Island Red. Two of the chicks are something else with red in the name. Can't remember what. I don't know what the other six are. I asked the guy at the store and he said "They are pullets." I told him I understood they were pullets, but what breed were they? Again he said "They are pullets." I gave it up as a lost cause. Maybe I'll be able to sort out the breed when they get their permanent feathers.

That's very nice-you did a good job! I think I might give that a try. I have a little garden outside with tomatoes, yellow squash, green beans and snow peas. The last couple of years we had so many birds thy would eat my bean and pea seedlings but we are in a new place this year and luckily the seedlings made it! I am going to plant some sunflowers soon and I have a couple of pink geraniums in pots on the porch, so far so good with everything!
