how much common sense do you have?

Erm, well, straight off the bat: question 1, "Do they have the 4th of July in Canada?"

That's not common sense, thats just knowledge, and not really common knowledge if you have lived in the UK all your life. I assume the 4th of July is some sort of American event, a holiday or rememberance day. Also, we all have a 4th of July. xD I'd like to see a Britland quiz.

"After you shave, does the hair grows back thicker?" - this is just science; a myth that is either proven to be true or not, ... I have no idea if it was, because I've never looked into it. I guess Mythbusters is aimed at people lacking in common sense. Oh wait, I'm thinking of longer... now I get it... I may have common sense, but I'm blonde as hell. lol

I'm apparently not very bright according to this quiz. lol

Yep, that's right....the question doesn't ask if they celebrate the holiday 4th of July in Canada, it just asks if they have a 4th of JUly in Canada.

This quiz is all about reading & answering EXACTLY what the question asks & not reading anything more of less into them.

I remember being given a test in school at the end of the semester...the statement at the top of the test said READ EVERY QUESTION before starting to answer any of the questions on the test.

The last question on the test said......don't answer any of the questions on the test. So often we just start doing things without reading the instructions (my typical engineering self starts to do before reading anything & saving the instructions for when I can't figure it out on my own).

So many people ended up answering at least 1/2 of the questions before finally looking through the test & seeing the last question/statement.

After that, I started at least looking at the last question....not good if they had thrown that statement somewhere in the middle.....but the point was.....you need to read & follow EXACTLY what is written....& that's what these questions are doing also & sorting through exactly what they are saying.

Ugh, I was always horrible at word problems in math.....they were in many of my nightmares. Reading I knowing exactly what something is asking....is that really common sense is?

The only thing is that when we get a marriage license BOTH parties have to sign it....& a dead person can't sign anything so therefore the dead person couldn't legally be married to the sister (at least with the way marriage licenses work in the US). Seems like it also takes some knowledge of exactly how things work in specific locations & without having personal experience to KNOW exactly how something really works, that doesn't have anything to do with common sense, it has more to do with practical, REAL experience......but that is usually a good foundation for common sense.

In this particular question 4th of July isn't an event, it's a date. It never asks if you celebrate, it asks if you have the date. This test measures common sense or maybe logic, but not knowledge of anything. You don't need yo know any facts of anything for this quiz but rather just think

You can't legally marry dead people.

It said "widow", so simply leaving his wife for someone else wouldn't make her a widow.

If he faking his death, as pretending to be dead, he can't sign marriage lisence hence can't marry anyone

You can in France, but I'm not sure how that works out. She would have to prove that they were intending to marry each other, or something like that. I was thinking about France when I read that question.

Unless he assumes a new name and identity and marries her sister, but then there might be some problems. It seems like a plot for a movie. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a movie out there with this premise, or something similar.
