I grow a couple different carnivorous plants to occupy my loneliness and free time. I guess it gives me what little comfort I can get to care for my blood thirsty (er...make that insect thirsty) little babies.

Right now I have one american pitcher plant and two venus fly traps. Just recently discovered the second one growing, and I think it came from me unknowingly germanting a seed that hitch hiked into my pot somehow. They all came from a kit I got at my local Lowe's store.

Anyone else like to grow and take care of plants?

I love plants and taking care of them. I actually worked for a while pruning and watering and cleaning plants, among other things. When my living arrangement is more stable, I'll probably have a small collection.

I actually grow aloe plants for fun. They are huge but have yet to flower.

The house in which I grew up had beautiful gardens around it, so I was kind of born into an interest in gardening. I live in an apartment now, but I still have my two geraniums in pots outside my door. I'd like to get another plant, not sure what kind, though. I live a block from a city rose garden and so enjoy walking through it, or sitting there on a bench.

I have a variety of potted plants in the house. My idea of a wonderful afternoon is out "playing in the dirt" tending my outside gardens.

I'm a plant lover too.......most of them are outside. I brought a few plants inside for the winter (geranium, hens and chicks) I have a Jade plant and an aloe too.
The winter is so long to be without my plants.

I like having plants around my flat, although I've never had that many...

I used to have a Bonsai tree but it died when I was away over the Christmas holidays, so I replaced it with a Jade plant. I'd really like to get it flowering but apparently it needs to be at temperatures under 14°C, which is not really feasible indoors.

I also had an Aloe plant recently but it died, I think perhaps it got too much sun or something because the leaves all went brown.

Living here in California I have quite a bit of experience with aloe vera and other succulents. They thrive in the sun, but too much water will turn them brown. They need only occasional watering and should never sit in water. I'm just tossing some ideas out there.
Thanks for this!

I have a little palm tree type plant. It survived the 32 days I was in the hospital, so, I guess it is special to me. I just make sure everyone keeps it watered for me now.

Possible but I don't think I was over-watering it. Having said that though, the pot it came in didn't have holes in the bottom so that might have caused it.

The reason I think it was the sunlight was because I had it in an indoor bathroom & it was doing fine, then when I moved it onto a sunny windowsill it suddenly went brown.

I read something that side you should gradually acclimatize them to sunlight rather than suddenly overloading them with it if they have been used to being in the shade...
