We already celebrated Thanksgiving (Canada).

We opted out of the usual turkey - which we do frequently throughout the year - and opted instead for steaks with pepper rub and blue cheese topping. Curried squash, parmesan potatoes, candied asparagus, and cranberry brussel sprouts.
Thanks for this!

Now what time did you say "Dinner" was starting!?
As you can see, all you would need to fix me is a "small plate!"

We'll be eating with my mom at her assisted living place. I'm sure we will have turkey, dressing, and cranberry sauce. And likely pumpkin pie. I'm not sure what else, though. I think these items are a must for a Thanksgiving meal.

I've often thought we should adopt Thanksgiving in the UK... just another excuse to have a roast turkey dinner!

I would like to celebrate, but I don't like being around people. I miss the turkey and stuffing. Sometimes McDonald's has sweet potato pies. I hope they do again this year.

I used to always have a slice of pizza or something. I always worked 3rd shift, so I never really had any holidays off. That was fine with me though. Didn`t have to listen to a bunch of family drama. This year I will probably have my PB&J and that`s it.

In my childhood, my father didn't like turkey so we always had ham and a Boston Butt Pork roast, rice, butter beans, stewed corn and biscuits.

I usually go to my older brother's for Thanksgiving. His kids and or wife will cook the meal. We usually have roast turkey, dressing, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, rolls, green bean casserole, salad. Then for desert we have pumpkin pie and some other pie, too, depends on what they get this year. It's usually a pretty nice time. We are sort of a quiet bunch of people, or at least I am.

I never know quite what I'm doing for Thanksgiving until Thanksgiving. This year it's going to be difficult because I have to puree everything that isn't already soft to eat. Not easy going to someone's house & bringing my ninja food processor with me. I do fine enjoying Thanksgiving at home alone also......I'm always flexible for whatever it turns out to be & I never plan what I'm going to cook until that day if I am home alone because I always change what I'm feeling like eating.

I'm going to my in laws, for the first time so not sure what to expect food wise. I'm in charge of bringing the dessert, and I'm not sure what to make. I'll have to make it next weekend as I will be working from Sunday until Thursday.

We start with appetizers that include a veggie, cheese, sausage with crackers, large cheese roll with crackers, and cheese and sausage stuffed rolls.

For dinner we roast a full breast of turkey, italian style green beans, creamy garlic mashed potatoes, and a very robust stuffing to which we add something new each year, and a nice thick gravey.

Dessert is pumpkin pie, banana cream pie, and homemade cookies.
Thanks for this!

The year before we did ham and after last year's power outage for 7 days: 3 days prior to T day, the day of, and 4 days after, we are doing tradition this year with all the fixin's.

Last year was a disaster on one hand. I had family and friends in town visiting, staying with me. I had to throw out all that food and that beautiful turkey that was huge and supposed to be for so many darn people. Such a waste. We ate the leftovers in the fridge first so it wouldn't go to waste, then raided the pantry so that T day we had spaghetti cooked on top of the wood burning stove.

However, it was definitely a time of family togetherness, which was the good that came out of it. Everything was shut down so there was no place to go either and then there were no electronics to distract either; so we played a lot games especially with the kids, read, and snow activities. I know they were really glad to leave as it was stressful at times, relaxing at others, but now they look on that time with laughter and fondness. Funny.

So this year, despite it being just a couple of us, we are going to go very sappy, and traditional for us. Small brunch buffet in the morning to watch the parade (that we missed too last year) with deviled eggs, fruit, banana or zucchini bread, meat (summer sausage)/cheese/cracker platter, and veggy tray. For dinner: turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, peas, yams, cranberry sauce, and then pecan and pumpkin pie for dessert.

I definitely won't be getting my cholesterol checked for some after this day and we will have leftovers for a long, long time; however, it should be tasty.

Buttercup, yes you do. Thanksgiving is on the Catholics/Church of England Calndar. It falls on the same day as Canadian Thanksgiving in October. It just isn't made a big deal of.

It's a 'floating' holiday like easter. First Sunday after first full moon after Equinox

We have a lot of food in order to observe different traditions. But this year we had (Canadian Thanksgiving) BBQ steaks because my brother was supposed to get the turkey and didn't thaw it. Ended up being a great holiday.

Usually in addition to turkey we have some Ukrainian food (kielbasa, perogies, cabbage rolls) to reflect my children's heritage (father is Ukrainian), and a bunch of vegetarian dishes to reflect my Sister-in-law, and curried dishes to reflect my step-mother's tastes. That ends up being a LOT of food

I was planning the whole traditional turkey, stuffing, etc dinner this year. But got cancelled. I'm sick as a pup and contagious. Probably going to toss a chicken breast in the oven.

Wow, amazes me the number of people still planing turkey! Supposed to be up in price this year because of the bird flu. Tofu turkey anyone?

Me? I'm thinking of pumpkin pie this year...maybe.
