Bell Let?s Talk

The idea is that Bell Canada is donating 5 cents of its fee for every tweet, text message, and so on (precise details are available at the web address above) to
a kitty that funds successful proposals and initiatives related to mental health in Canada.
I have two questions related to this topic.

First: What opinions do regulars on this forum who happen to be Canadians have about this program?

Second: Do American telephone companies have a corresponding initiative? If yes, when is their equivalent to Let's Talk day?

On second thought, make that three questions: If you're posting from outside the US or Canada, does your fair homeland have any commercial initiative in support of mental health services and the like? If yes, what firm or firms provide sponsorship for that initiative?
Thanks for this!

I don't think we have that here in the US. I don't know about the South and Central Americans

It is a great program. The tv spots alone spark dialogue and conversation. Bell has had this initiative for a number of years and the result has been what I have noticed as an attack on and lessening of the stigma. Because of "Let's Talk Day" I have been able to talk and be open about my mental health. This too has been positive in that people have come forward to me for information and help for their own worries and issues.

Let's Talk Day (which is actually tomorrow - Wed) is a day long look at Mental Health: TV, internet, radio, etc. Many celebrities and those affected by their own mental health or others' will be taking to the airwaves - including our Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau who's mother has fought a very public battle against Bipolar.

So go ahead Canadians - tweet, text, like, share, and talk tomorrow all day long.

Taking about mental health is great, but where does the money actually go? Does it help make mental health services more accessible so people don't have to wait months to get help or is it used to reduce stigma?

The money goes to initiatives across Canada. The company has now donated more than $79,000,000 nation wide. This includes awareness, facilities, and programs.
Thanks for this!

It seems great that they're bringing awareness to mental health.
