What is something you absolutely need in order to sleep? Habits, hygiene ect.

For me, number one is my seroquel of course. I can't remember the last time I slept without help from meds. Also my eye mask to block out all light. And a cup of water on my nightstand.

How about you all?

I need to sleep with a stuffed animal. I need to hold something while I sleep.
Thanks for this!

I need a cool room (probably cooler than most people would find comfortable) & darkness.

For both reasons, I hate the summer months sleep wise.

It's also pretty important I wind down before bed... if I don't, I'll sleep terribly.

All basic sleep hygiene really, but since I'm a light sleeper... it becomes a necessity for me.

I used to get drunk. Now I don't do that anymore.

Darkness. Silence. Water bottle. I must brush my teeth. Preferably hubby in bed as well otherwise I don't really fall asleep. And good old meds!

Darkness silence, fresh air and a cool room. I dont even use the heater in winter, probably around 13 degrees in my dorm but I use extra blankets instead. I used to sleep very well but it has been long ago since I slept without mirtazapine, or another med. Slowing down also helps and no tv, computer or any ither screen, although I have a hard time to accomplish that.

Mx: To clean up the mess use lamotrigine, r
isperidon, mirtazapine and sertraline. Let it soak in for a while but keep a close eye on it. Meanwhile enjoy your desert of oxazepam/temazepam prn.

Peace and quiet. Lately, although I wouldn't say it's a necessity, I do find I "need" my girlfriend there, because she helps keep my mind quiet; she's the same way. xD Funnily enough, she snores so there is also that. Hah

I can sleep anywhere, anytime. Just leave me alone and I can be out in minutes.

(Which my wife hates. )

Complete silence and warmth, my blood doesn't circulate very well because I'm anemic so I do need an electric blanket in the cold weather normally.

Xanax, a meal not too far from bedtime and a good show on Youtube about something interesting. I end up listening more than watching. Also I can't sleep in darkness too well. Usually it helps if I was able to round up my day somehow. If I go straight to bed from doing stuff all day I get really bad nightmares.

I too have to sleep with the TV on or headphones to listen to my fav radio show. The sounds keeps my mind from anxiety triggering thoughts.

Ack! That blue light! My phone doesn't emit any lights but hubby's makes the room look like a disco! It doesn't bother him at all and he won't let me put a cloth over his phone. Then he gets messages in the middle of the night and not only does that make a noise, scaring me, but the lights start flashing an array of colours. Hate it!

The room needs to be the right temp - not hot, not cold. I'm weird about sound. Some nights I want quiet, no noise at all. Others I leave the TV on at a very low volume. The sound helps me nod off.

Then there's my evening meds. I joke that I ought to be laying down when I take them since they knock me out.

I can be happy with just an air mattress on the floor. I need a blanket. I take half a Xyzal at night, it's an allergy med, and I can sleep anywhere.

I used to need my baby blanket to sleep--- until I was married! When I feel my absolute lowest, I still cuddle up and sleep with it on occasion. I'm really embarrassed about that.

Tramadol, Morphine and Ketamine to somewhat dull the pain, and the tv on low for background noise - I cannot sleep when there is silence.

Dave.

I went through a phase where I had to sleep with meditation type sounds. Rain, thunder, wind chimes ect. There's a app called "sleep sounds" and it's great. You can chose your own sounds and make your own mix. Or search sleep sounds in pandora. Great stuff.

Gabapentin 600 mg, 3 fans, 2 noise machines, that's all.
