I must admit that part of my dislike for the game is cause I can't play. Even if I had a phone I could do this on I couldn't walk very far.

So, I was interested to notice upon ordering a copy of Pokemon Alpha Sapphire for the 3DS yesterday that both versions sold by Amazon were sold out by the end of that night, as well as Pokemon X which I just checked.

Found an article that said sales of the Pokemon 3DS games have gone up 138%+ since the launch of Pokemon GO & that Nintendo have increased their sales projections for the upcoming Sun & Moon.

Pokemon fever is truly here again! I think it's great that I can appreciate it this time, whilst when I was little it didn't seem like the huge phenomenon that it was!

I decided I wasn't on the right team (I chose Valor). So, I made a new account via my Pokémon Club account, and am using that as my main, with the other as a backup. This time around, I'm chosing Mystic, to go along with my blue clothes, and Squirtle starter.

I'm not one for strategy and upgrading and those things. So my friend does those. If we are in the car I catches the Pokemons (if on foot she does), and I do the PokeStops.

Am I the only one that looking at the PokeStops suddenly realizing details of my own city that has been there all the time but I've never really seen them? I feel like I'm getting to know my city better. Mostly odd artwork. But also now I know where the Catholic church is and the Mormon church, LOL.

I saw that one was nearby me, but it was the wee hours of the morning and I didn't feel like getting out of bed, let alone traipsing through my neighborhood in my pajamas and slippers.

A few tips for beginners, and perhaps regular players, that I've learned.
  1. Don't waste candies on the first several dozen Pokémon you catch. As you level up in the game, the CP, or Combat Points, of the Pokémon you catch will rise. Obviously, the higher level you are, the higher the CP of the Pokémon you catch will be. So, it's very advantageous to just be patient and hold onto those candies until you've gotten to a much higher level and can catch Pokémon with relatively high CP's.

  2. A great way to level up more quickly is to buy a Lucky Egg from the in game item shop when you're about to evolve your Pokémon. Wait until you have several Pokémon you want to evolve and then buy a Lucky Egg. The Lucky Egg will boost the the EXP, or Experience Points you gain from evolving Pokémon by twice as much.

  3. If you have a bunch of low CP Pokémon cluttering up your Pokémon Storage, you can release them to Professor Willow for one candy each pertaining to their evolution line. To release a Pokémon to the Professor, just tap on that Pokémon to pull up their stat screen. Then, scroll down to the bottom where you'll see the "Release" button.

  4. If you're looking for a quick and easy way to hatch those Pokémon eggs, keep in mind that the Pokémon Go App has a built in speedometer that can tell how fast you're moving around. If you go faster than a general walking pace, it'll regester that and it won't count towards hatching your eggs. I've heard some pretty wild ways around that, like taping your phone to a Roomba or even a ceiling fan, but do so at your own risk. I'm not responsable for lost or damaged phones. Also, keep in mind that the rarer Pokémon come from eggs which require farther walking distances to hatch.

  5. As far as I know, and as of this date (July 24th, 2016), Mew, Mewtwo, Zaptos, Articuno and Moltres have NOT been released into the Pokémon Go game to be captured yet. So, don't try and do anything foolish like wandering around a highly restricted military instillation (AKA Area 51), just because a YouTube video said that's where one of those Pokémon can be found. Any video thus far showing someone catching or finding the afore mentioned Pokémon are fake.

  6. A fairly easy way to catch Pokémon is to find a spot with two PokéStops nearby to one another and activate a Lure Module in both of them (an item you can purchase in the in game store that attracts Pokémon to PokéStops for 30 minutes) and then use an Incense (another item you can buy in the in game store, or get by leveling up, that attracts Pokémon to you for 30 minutes as you walk about) and park yourself inbetween the two PokéStops. This will almost certainly bring a bunch of Pokémon to you.

  7. Keep in mind that items that have a time limit on them for their use, aka the Incense, Lucky Eggs and Lure Modules, work on real time, and not in game time. So if the servers go down (which they do frequently, but are getting progressively more stable as time goes by) and you're using one of these items, they unfortunately won't stop their effects and wait for you to log in again to continue. So be warey and careful of how you use these items.

  8. Once you reach level 5, you'll be able to join one of three teams. Team Valor (red), Team Instinct (yellow) and Team Mystic (blue). Consider this choice very carefully because as of now, you're unable to switch teams. They might make the ability to change teams in the future, but for now, choose wisely, because that's the team you're going to be with for the duration of your gameplay. The same goes with creating your trainer avatar. Once you've chosen what they'll look like, you'll be unable to change it.

  9. If you made a mistake with your trainer's nickname, or would like to change it, you CAN change this. Just go to the Pokémon Go website and fill out a request for a name change. Keep in mind that this will take a few weeks to take effect as the game is very popular right now and a lot of other requests are being delt with on a daily basis.

  10. Last but not least, be mindful of what you're doing while playing. Don't play the game and drive at the same time, as that is just a recipe for disaster. There is a Battery Saver option under the settings that will dim the screen if you have the Pokémon Go app active once the phone is turned upside down, so all you have to do is walk around until the phone vibrates to indicate that a Pokémon is nearby. Just flip your phone right side up to deactive the Battery Saver Mode so you can catch that Pokémon. Also, be safe. Don't go out into unfamiliar areas alone at 2 in the morning, just to catch a particular Pokémon. People have been known to take advantage of unsuspecting players via using Lure Modules at PokéStops to "lure" them in and rob them. So, please play it safe and use your common sense.

So there you go. I hope this helps new and regular players alike, and brings new and more enjoyable levels to your Pokémon Go experience.

Have fun!!!

Okay, I give, I'm totally going to buy a new phone case that looks like a PokéDex and, like I said before, I'm also buying the Plus. That way I'm totally going to be rockin' the PokéStyle.

Grats!

I guess it depends where you live, but in my city... there are certain spots that some pokemon appear.

I've caught all my pikachus bar one from the same exact spot. They don't appear that often, but I always make a point of walking past just in case!

We've also noticed that certain parks seem to have different rare pokemon too.

Can be fun talking to other people & finding all these things out.

Was at the Vet's office and caught 5 different Pokémon sitting in the exam room. The vet who was examining my dog and cat was very impressed.

Nope. Don't really understand the appeal, don't have it downloaded on my phone, don't get influenced by my coworkers who do play.

I loved Pokemon as a kid...now I'm almost 26 and I see this as childish even though it is very much catered to an older crowd (middle school and up).

If you think getting out and exercising, meeting other like minded people who are out and about and enjoying finding out things about where you live is childish, then fine. I guess you have a right to your opinion.

We played on my friends phone. My friend managed to simultaneously update her iOS without the power cable (crashed for good iOS....) and forgetting her iTunes password. Not a great combo.

She thinks I can do magic but I'm kind of stuck. I miss our little virtual "friends"...

That's sounds like the sort of thing Team Rocket would say...

We were at outdoors concert yesterday ( it was great) and half the audience wandered around like zombies looking for Pokemon.

We observed a couple lost their kid, found later, then kid almost felt off the bike as he tried to catch Pokemon, the other kid rode his bike too close to my foot, people bumped on each other walking, one couple argued about Pokemon ( not sure what) and I sure hope musicians didnt see what was going lol it looked extremely silly like whole bunch of people lost their mind.

Nothing against Pokemon go if that gets people do things they otherwise wouldn't do. I wonder though if people rely on electronic so much. Rather than talking to real people they search for made up stuff or rather than enjoying real life band they run around searching for made up stuff...

But if people do it in addition to other things then why not?
