Garlic pickled Thai chili peppers. Tried one from an Indian roommate's supply and was left gasping for air. Man those things were hot.

And in the truly weird food combination category, one of the buffet items at a Turkish resort I stayed at was those mini cocktail wieners, sliced in half part way through, stuffed with a baby corn, and wrapped in a strip of grilled eggplant.

Wow, most of what is considered weird here I've considered normal.

I love squid (calamari). I have enjoyed octupus when eating sushi.

Fog's legs I've enjoyed many times & I've cooked allegator when I found it in the store I was shopping at. I actually cooked it for my Mom for our mother's day dinner. Told my daughter it was chicken...fishiest tasting chicken I ever ate....but it was good.

Living in the country, venison in normal & delicious. I've had elk when I was vacationing in Jackson Hole....elk refuge is right there & they open it up to hunting once a year to thin the herd.

When I took a trip to Alaska, the church had a pot luck for us of everything that was native to Alaska. One of the stew's was made from bear meat.....it was wonderful.

When I was in Rome Italy, I went out to lunch with a local & ordered the escargot (not sure what the Italian name for it is). It wasn't anything like the appetizers they serve in the US. They brought a platter mounded up & overflowing with escargot in their shells & cooked with a tomato sauce. They gave me a pick & the local showed me how to eat them. I ended up going through the mound. Best flavor....but then I learned how they go out into the parks & collect the snails in a paper bag. They process them to clean them out, but it's not like they are grown for eating.

I think the absolute worse thing I have ever had was a drink that this other person in Italy wanted me to try. It was called Compari. I took one sip & almost choked on it. Worst tasting drink I have ever tried.

Blood sausage is just what it sounds like. It is sausage made from the blood of a pig. In Europe they serve you lard on toast and I tried garlic soup which was nasty.

Blood sausage and black pudding are almost identical. But I prefer black pudding. It is awesome.

Ate: Reindeer sausage (flight from Alaska to the mainland)

Drank: Uncooked eggs (back then, it was not a big deal)

That actually makes sense. I have heard that vinegar is good to counter acid in the stomach. Pickle juice has a lot of vinegar along with pickling spices....it would be the vinegar base that is helping you I would imagine.

Alaska has some really good food.

Uncooked eggs if I remember from my teenage years half a century ago, raw egg was used for hangovers to cure them. I thought it just made you throw up, thus getting rid of the alcohol from the stomach.....but I actually use raw egg in my carbonara spaghetti dish though the hot pasta slightly cooks it & then the parmasan cheese mixed with the rest of the uncooked egg gives it an ok texture.

Pickle juice is really good and so is bone marrow on toast or mixed with egg noodles.

The oddest food I have ever eaten was braided small intestine filled with fat.

My daughter traveled to Ecuador last year and had to partake of the local delicacy; Roast Guinea Pig. Yum, not so much.

Living in Maryland I have grown up eating raw oysters but the first person who ever ate one of those was either starving or VERY brave.

Stuff I've consumed on purpose? Or accident? I'm going to go with things consumed on purpose.

The strangest thing I've ever eaten was a bison burger. I'm not the most adventurous when it comes to eating. If it's any consolation, I thoroughly enjoyed the burger. As an added bonus, the lack of fats in the Bison meat didn't give me that heavy feeling a regular (and more fat filled) beef burger does after eating.

Yes, it does. Maybe that's because they are the wild cousins of domestic cattle.

I've eaten crickets and mealworms before. Not too bad, but not something I would eat everyday.

I ate a worm when I was a kid. One was enough to realise I did not want seconds.

Weirdest thing I ever drank... I have no idea. Bud Light Lime Mint Mojito was among the most disgusting though.

Tofu that is made into imitation turkey. Some vegetarians and vegans use this around Thanksgiving in the US as a substitute for real turkey.
