Hi, I have been asked to write a poem for an event. The theme of the poem is 'healing.' I know there are many here on PC who are creative, and I know there are many here who struggle with the concept of healing. When you hear the word 'healing', what do you think of?

Thank you very much.

Wow what a tough question that is.
I guess I think of healing my mind and my heart both of which are broken.
I think about healing in terms of having the right person to love and the
healing of my life. Also the healing of certain relationships in my life.
I am sure I'll think of more.

Healing is soft, receiving, reflective, and loving. Whatever darkness and bleakness one goes through healing is like a soft guiding light beckoning one into a future of more beauty and understanding. Healing is chocolate, a loving text message, a hot bath, or an inspiring YouTube. The other night I watched a YouTube where someone rescued a mother dog and her nine puppies. They were stranded at the end of a country road. The mother had put all the puppies in an old tire to keep them safe from harm! The rescue was healing to watch. Whenever one being helps another being there is a healing taking place in the whole Universe. That is how powerful an act of kindness is as a tool of healing.

Healing comes from within. Some things take longer to heal, but just because you can't see the progress does not mean it is not happening.

Healing is what keeps me going through the dark days. Treating my mind, soul and body with tender care.

Healing is feeling at peace with myself.

Being healed is peaceful I'm sure, but healing can be painful.
One must first realize one is hurt before one can heal, and that process can be scary and confusing.
To me, healing is facing my issues, my traumas, my demons and slowly taking away their influence over me.
It's about tearing down each facade one by one, until only I remain.

I'm sure you will see people heal in many different ways.

Healing is the beginning. Just the beginning. It's an ongoing process. Calm and reflected on the body and the soul, it's the blanket that covers us when we are down and out. It's the pillow we lay our head down on.

Healing is the laughter of a person who you made laugh.

I wish I could feel entirely at peace with myself just once even if it
is just for a while.

For me healing couldnt happen until I left the environment that broke me so bad.

Then I was finally able to do more than just heal but starting with the foundation, rebiold my life (even at the age of 54). The whole last 9 years have been a rebuilding process into a whole new life. Worked hard at letting go of the past & not pickinv at the scabs to keep the wounds open or let them get infected. Its been a real growth process of learning, reprogramming the old neuralpathways that were badly broken.

The new life & new person that has come from this is the greatest feeling. To learn what real emotional connecting with people is after a lifetime of not having it, to learn what love for people feels like & having REAL friendship relationships has been the most fulfilling of all & finally having a life filled with peace instead of battles it the greatest. The last half of life makes up for the first.
