I've struggled with my laptop's WiFi spontaneously dropping, and it got very frustrating indeed. It all really started after we switched over to Google Fiber. I looked up numerous fixes and tried them all with no luck.
I tried the console command "winsock" fix, I've tried reinstalling both my graphic's card and wireless card to get the latest drivers, I even adjusted the wireless card's setting per yet another fix to see if it was a frequency problem. Nothing has worked. So, out of sheer desperation, I'm doing a complete reset of my laptop. I'm doing an advanced reset so it's taking quite a while. Hopefully, that will be it. Now, I've noticed that in my search for a fix, that Windows Troubleshooter said my laptop couldn't identify the proxy settings. Maybe that is a clue? Either way, I'm hoping this reset is the fix that'll work.

I find when more than three devices connect to my wifi it seems to block out or not show up as available to the additional devices. It is necessary for some reason for me to reboot the modem and then the additional devices (ie. a visitors phone) can connect.

EDIT: So far, my connection is a noticeably more stable. However, I'm just waiting for it to go out again. Call me a pessimist, but when you've tried everything, you're bound to be this way.

UPDATE #2: I searched around online and found a Lenovo forum that had threads which talked about my issue. One of the possible fixes a lot of members on there recommended was to roll back the drivers to previous ones because the updates Microsoft puts out don't necessarily mesh well with the hardware a lot of the time. So, I went to Lenovo's site and downloaded and installed the most recent WiFi drivers I could find for my model of laptop.
So far so good....(knock on wood).

I should have advised the driver roll back myself, however, I assumed that you looked at the driver's based on what you said earlier.
If you still have trouble, hit me up later. I have to leave in a little bit to go to the library to work on an essay but I will have a bit of free time throughout the weekend. |
