Eating meat hardly kills you slowly since humans are omnivores and even if it did, I would eat meat anyways.

I've told myself more than once that the only way I have any desire to live a long life is if we develop the means to make humans into cyborgs or transfer people's consciousness into computers in my lifetime, otherwise, I see no real point of living past 50-60.

Well, I had these sugar free candies from Aldi, and they didn't taste fake or anything, but whatever they substituted in place of the sugar, was very convincing. Although I think artificial sweeteners are a risk to your health, somehow.

That's cool

I guess for me, I see a reason to live to be like 90 because I want to have a family, and see my future children grow up and watch my grandchildren grow up and I want to travel and see the world and I have many things I want to do on my bucket list that I can't accomplish in 30 years

I have friends I'd like to meet in other countries and things I'd like to do and I would much rather not be sick or obese while doing them
Thanks for this!

The point of the thread is probably to enjoy a few light moments, I think!...and we certainly all do need that!!! (We are pretty aware of how bad refined sugars are for us....everyone needs a guilty indulgence once in awhile, however...as our ailments really DO take so much joy from our lives...)

I'm with possum.....and Fharraige.....although my diet is pretty restrictive these days, I might just go ahead and make some brownies and experiment with a caramel topping for them. (BAKING and CHOCOLATE, combined!!!) And then, I shall experiment with how many I can eat these days!, as really I haven't had anything like this in probably 2 years. (((evil giggle)))

I will post my results as soon as I revive from my refined sugar- and saturated fat-induced coma.

Maybe.

Really? I am 51 and why wouldn't I see a point in living? Why 50-60? Any reason? My dad is 80 and has ton of points in keep on living.

Because most people don't seem to care about elders anymore and I know that when I stop having the energy to do things that I enjoy and I stop being desirable to people over somebody who's 20-30 years younger, I will be miserable.

Since I'm also an introvert who cares more about my hobbies and passions than dealing with people, the chances of me having children or being in a successful long term relationship are much lower than a regular person.

When people no longer want to deal with me when I lose my "appeal" than I know I will be lonely and I refuse to give society the last laugh.

Plus, I'm more than willing to sacrifice years off my lifespan to achieve some of my goals in life while I'm young.

So yeah, my comment wasn't meant to be any offense to somebody who is older or wishes to grow old, it was just my own opinion, which is probably influenced by my own emotional issues anyways.

Yeah, I agree. We evolved to eat meat as a faster more efficient way to fuel our ever growing brains. It's perfectly natural to eat meat, and though I respect those who decide to abstain, and understand the reasons why, I will still eat meat because that's how a human being is designed to function.

Also, those vegetarian and vegan alternatives to meat and such are full of unhealthy byproducts and chemicals and stuff to make them taste as much like real meat as possible. You're much better off just eating real meat as it's healthier.
