Perhaps I over planned my holiday because, with one thing gone wrong, all seems to have gone astray.

By noon yesterday it had warmed UP to -32C/-28F (yes you read that right). The car would not start. Dead battery. After an hour and a half out in the blasted cold removing and replacing it I was done for. We canceled our plans for Boxing Day. So too have we canceled plans for today and a trip out of town on the weekend. Blast it. Bummer.

I have wished the best for you all - that your plans have turned out better than my own.

Sometimes though it is those things that have gone awry that make the occasions memorable.

Minus 28 F?!!! Aiiieee! A couple of years ago, i told my t that i had a 0 to 100 degree F range, outside that i would cancel any appointments. As i get older, that range is decreasing, now its 10 to 90, "real feel", i.e. including windchill or heat index. 20 to 85 is not far behind!

I don't know where you are in canada, but we got cold right at Christmas break. It's "only" -21 right now, but we aren't going anywhere.

Central Saskatchewan. The windchill dropped it further to a 'feels like' - 41C/-40F.

I have a friend in Saskatchewan and he always tells me about how darn cold it gets there. I'm in southern alberta and I'll stop complaining now. Lol.

I was going to go to med school. Then I discovered alcohol. It had nothing to do with being cold, just stupid.

Anyway, here I am. Happy as a clam.

I remember the one time walking back to our condo in jackson Hole wyo in January. It was -40F with NO wind chill. Looking back realized how stupud we were that winter skiing in -20F temp for several days. Would make 1 run & feet were totally frozen. Took off ski boots & wrapped them in my down jacket....total burning pain then put sku boots back on & did it again. I usually stay inside when it gets that cold now unless I have something really important going on. Would never do that again...young & dumb....my only excuse
