Awesome! Proud day!
I got an associate's with over 180 hours and had a half-dozen kids at home.
I wish I'd been able to use it, but bipolar is an arse

Congratulations! What a wonderful accomplishment.

I have enough units completed to get a BA...but, never could pass a math class. Nothing above third grade math. I'm sure I have a learning disability that, back in the years I was in elementary school, was not addressed in any way except for teachers to say "You're not trying hard enough".

My daughter has severe GAD, got her AA, and is in grad school. Her anxiety was never ignored by my husband and I; she was given treatment. A great thing.
Thanks for this!

My mom did. She has the numbers version of dyslexia and started getting her master's degree in psychology at the age of 55. It was so hard for her with the learning disability and having a family and work to worry about, but she did it. She also nearly died to pancreatitis in her last year and had to put off finishing while she recovered. Watching her graduate was one of the best highlights of my life.

Ach. I completed three degrees whilst in the midst of mental disorders, but I was in manic states and I believe that, for awhile at least, mania was an asset. My regret is that — due to general depression and whackiness — I never completed my PhD. Later, with mental disorder odds stacked against me, I did complete my JD and actually thrived with it for, oh, one decade plus.

There are other milestones that can be important, not just collegiate: being able to rebuild the engine on a 1957 Chevy, for example. Now that’s something I could never do!

Getting a Bachelor’s degree these days seems like the college-equivalent of finishing high school. And I have to say that I enjoyed the GED classes that I taught more than any university classes.

I don’t, in any way!, mean to belittle your scholastic achievement; only to say that others might achieve different goals even when the odds aren’t in their favor.

Peace.

I have brain damage but I am still trying to get into med school. I am not from the US, by the way, so the process is going to be a bit easier (but not hell of an easy process) however, still, people's lives are gonna be dependent on my health and my brain.

I am eligible for the medical entrance examination. That in itself is a big mile achievement.
Thanks for this!

School definitely has been a struggle for me due to my ADHD and orher learning disability, i’m just so proud to have got this done. We as people with mental illnesses need to be extremely proud of ourselves even if we have to work harder than our oeers. I had alot of times I wanted to give up but I kept going.
My mom used to tell me that I wasnt trying hard enough and using ADHD as an excuse, but it really is hard managing life with it.

Congratulations on getting your AA degree. That is a wonderful accomplishment.

It took me 3 years to get my AA. I changed majors as a junior from music (AA) to Accounting Information Systems & Computer Science which took me another 5 years to achieve.

I got married 1 1/2 years after starting on my BS. I took a semester off for a 6 week trip to Rome. Then a year later I got pregnant. That was a battle because I had no intentions of stopping the work in my degree. H had other ideas that went against the agreement we made before we got married. I won that battle. Had our daughter (by c-section) 10 months before I graduated. I didn't even celebrate that accomplishment because it was such a war in our marriage but I had 3 job offers to choose from before I graduated & I personally celebrated getting ready to start me career right after the 1st of the year.....for me it was a great accomplishment because no one else in my family except very distant relatives had ever gone to a university let along graduated. I had to sort my own way through it having no mentors or anyone I knew that I could discuss any college issues with. It was a challenge I was grateful to achieve & graduate with a 3.25 GPA.

Ok....at 65 & retired I want to go back & get my masters in theology at a local university 10 minutes from my farm. When all my divorce mess is over I will seriously look into doing this
