I was in a hotel for 2 nights and I felt water come up through the AC. People were working in the hotel. I don’t know what they were doing. I woke up this morning and my muscles ached real bad. Like my sides. And my chest and when I take a deep breath I just ache all over. I’m also having stomach issues and I can’t eat a lot. I feel headachy and I have chills. The person I was with feels fine. I haven’t gotten my flu shot yet either so I don’t know. Does anyone know anything about leginneres diseases?

Most common symptoms are cough, shortness of breath, fever, muscle aches, headache, diarrhea, nausea, and confusion (the last three less commonly).

I am sorry you are suffering! It sounds like you might want to see someone about this, probably sooner rather than later. I hope you feel better!

If it were me I'd see a doctor to find out what's going on and to express my concerns. I hope you feel better very soon.

I'm sorry you're not feeling well. When I am sick I tend to become anxious and worry about things. Legionnaires disease is a type of pneumonia, but it is not very common. But the symptoms would be pneumonia symptoms...so extreme difficulty breathing and a cough would be primary.

It sounds like either you're run down, or you have caught a virus. Definitely do check with your doctor, though, just in case you have the flu.

Are you a hypochondriac? It sounds like the common cold/flu.

Yeah I am a big time hypochondriac. I just woke up a few minutes ago with pretty bad muscle aches and a little bit of fluid and post nasal drip and a sore throat. Maybe just a cold. The whole water in the ac thing just freaked me out.

Legionaries disease is rare. I don't think it's probable you have it. It's probably just a flu or a virus. Many people around me are ill now, I got a cold this week, too. It's just autumn, that's all :-) Rest, sleep, drink your tea and if it doesn't improve visit your Dr.

Cough, possible diarrhea , shortness of breath, nausea, high fever and muscle pains. Best info here: Legionnaires' disease - Wikipedia

To be on the safe side I urge you to see your doctor as soon as possible. You can not delay this - even if instead you have a virus or a chest infection, I am asking you see your GP if just to get yourself checked out. Please.

It's still not too late to get a flu jab. Generally it takes about 2 weeks (14 days) for immunization to fully take place in your body.

ETA @Mountaindewed I didn't mean to scare you. I think you just need to get checked out because it's safest, yes? I am sorry you have had this scare and hope your weekend gets to become better.

No you didn’t scare me I just don’t know what’s going on. My stomach hurt real bad this morning and I was wondering if it was constipation so I took some constipation medicine and I’ve had 5 severe bouts of diarrhea in just over an hour. So I’m wondering if it might be related to the medicine but I’m not sure. I just feel crappy in general. Chills and fatigue and stuff. No fever though.

Aww I'm so sorry you've been having a rough time, but as you say of not having fever, I think you might have a bit of 'tourist tummy' instead. Legionaries is uncommon, because if you did have a high fever which is associated with the disease, you really would feel ghastly having a nasty cough, nausea, which you mentioned you don't.

I suggest you buy over-the-counter Imodium at a pharmacist, but ask for Loperamide as it's the generic name and should be cheaper. Follow the instructions on the packet. Loperamide should clear up your diarrhea; it's the most effective treatment.

It is essential, however, that you keep your fluids up because diarrhea can cause your body dehydration. Drink plenty of filtered water at room temperature not chilled, tea but not coffee as it can be a stomach irritant. Add a couple of teaspoons of sugar to your tea to help with your glucose intake (providing you're not diabetic) and if you can eat something light (such as scrambled egg), add a good pinch of salt as it's beneficial.

Tonight I will pray for you to get well soon.

All the best to you.

Rosie
Thanks for this!
