Thanks @guilloche! I agree that watching too much of the news is not good for one's mental health, but that it's easy to get sucked in. I am doing everything possible to limit my news intake, while my husband literally had the news on the entire day yesterday. I don't know how he can do that without it impacting him negatively.

i understand the anxiety from too much media. That happened to me yesterday and it wasn't helpful. Today I am going to check the Internet once in the morning (now) and once in the evening. In-between schedule more movement (cleaning, lifting weight) listening to music, freelance work, and a walk. I think today will be better. Hope your husband switches gears. He probably has to discover for himself that it is having an negative impact. I know I was going on the Internet because I felt so out-of-control and was not adjusting to that feeling. My local public radio is having too many programs about Covid 19 so am not going to leave news radio on in the background - it's TMI. A good night's sleep helped me with attitude adjustment and a new plan. Hope today is a good day for both you and your SO.

Thank you.... and you make a really good point. My husband does need to discover and realize this for himself. I cannot force him to take better care of himself. He has to do that all on his own. I can make suggestions, but I know the solution ultimately needs to come from him.

I am doing along the lines of what you're doing. I'm limiting my news intake to AM and PM only, and I am doing a lot of self-care in between, and it's really helping to keep my spirits up. I also have to keep my spirits up while at work and cannot afford to lose any time during the work day due to sluggishness or depression. It's most important that I keep my job.

When I read your previous posts I actually felt impressed and inspired. Like the way you made a new work area. I have freelance work and it is actually important I push it along. But, you know, I am the only one to hold myself accountable. But when I heard what you were doing I thought, "She is really responding well, very proactively." Unfortunately yesterday I gave into my anxiety.

Anyway I just wanted you to know your actions have had a really positive impact on me.

I am sure it is your husband's anxiety that is keeping him glued to the news. Let's hope he gets bored with it. I mean one can "catch up" but after that...one is really just a media audience. Media loves it when they have something meaty to report on. It is TMI.

Thanks again. I am happy you are doing well and your actions can encourage others to practice self-care all day every day.

Aw, that's nice to hear! I have to tell you that creating my own work space, suited to my needs, really made a huge difference. I am able to close the doors in order to concentrate and hold calls, and I use the sounds of soothing ocean waves in the background to relax me. It really works!!!!

And yes, he prob is glued to the TV because of his own anxieties. He's going to do what he's going to do, however. At least he's in the other room so I am not disturbed while I work. That's most important to me right now... I cannot lose my job, and there's always a chance of that when there's a downturn in the economy.

So, yes, make your space cozy and suitable for you to work in, and do whatever it is that will soothe your anxieties the most while you work.... relaxing music, meditative sounds, etc.

It's difficult not being able to do habitual activities on the weekend...i.e. go to the library, coffee shop, book store. Also, Target. Church. Recreation center. Gym. Also, taking the bus instead of driving. It was very convenient and ran frequently on the weekend so I would use instead of car. Stops right in front on my place. (Now buses are barely running and people have been advised not to use them and drive instead.)

I will probably plan a few walks but frankly the weekend stretches out as long and boring.

I feel pretty weird right now. Maybe because I’ve been up since 4, took my mornings meds at 5, did a ton of exercise when I never do any, and only ate 930 calories all day.

Terrible. I just replied to a friend's "rosy" Facebook post in a very sour way and I feel badly. But she was being far too rosy about the pandemic, when some of us, many of us, are under great stress as a result.

I’ve noticed an odor on me. I’m pretty sure it’s a side effect. And it’s supposed to happen. But today around 3 it was awful and I took a shower. I went in my room and the smell was there and I had to spray a bunch of air freshener. My doctor did say I was going to go through puberty again. Anyways I feel a bit paranoid? About it. Although my mom says she hasn’t noticed it.

I’m kinda down in the dumps today. Could be weather related. It’s very crappy out. I was in a good mood yesterday because of my doctors appointment and therapy appointment tomorrow.
