You might also like the game Graveyard Keeper, it's like Stardew Valley with similar graphics but you're running a graveyard instead of a farm, it's actually a lot of fun lol

You might also like LittleWood, it's a fun relaxing/peaceful RPG with old-skool graphics, it's really cute

OMG! a game about Chocolate!!!! now wouldn't it be good if you could send off for all the chocolates you made in game to be delivered as real chocolate to your door!!!

I do think the 2D/2.5D is good for handheld play on the switch cos you don't really have to worry that you're missing seeing something further away. And it's generally not so taxing that you need to follow step by step instructions and be able to see it better on a bigger screen.

Animal Crossing was good for handheld play where some other games with the then tiny menu's are difficult on handheld, unless you have exceptional eyesight!

I do like that though I can take it off docked and continue to play in handheld in bed whilst watching TV at night.

Games like BOTW though you can't really appreciate fully in handheld mode, but dock it to a 4K TV and you're like WOW!!!

Ring Fit Adventure also really only works docked for exercising in front of the TV.

Spirit of the North is stunning visually when played docked you play a fox running through the mountains etc in snow and its gorgeous, but the game gets tricky quite quickly cos of the platforming element (for me anyway with dyspraxia) and I got bored cos it was taking me so long to get past one bit due to my co-ordination challenges...so it ends up more stressful than relaxing for me!

The combat elements on the 2D games are much easier as you just bash your button to wave your little sword at them...lol!

Though I'm really struggling to time the button presses in the fishing game (SDV) and haven't managed to catch anything yet!

well done!!

In SDV I have 2 games on the go

one my character is based on my dad finding my mum (Penny) and marrying her. I've got them to 9 hearts, given her the bouquet. The kitchen is done but I don't know if the guy on the beach is there in winter cos it snows rather than rains (to get the pendant from that I need).

The farm is the 4 corners farm and I'm setting it up as a Dairy Farm.

The other game I'm playing as myself in Forest Farm and the farm is more like a 'Duck Rescue' cos of all the ponds on that farm! I've got chickens too and will make mayo on that one.

I may get goats too to get milk and cheese for money making..or may put the goats on the Dairy Farm and do cloth/textiles on the Forest Farm and get the mill.

Also doing tea saplings on the FF, they will be going in the greenhouse when I get to the part of the game where that gets fixed. hopefully before next winter I'm in the first winter on both games!

There's a bunch of Switch eshop sales right now so I'm getting:

The Witcher 3 Complete Edition
Cozy Grove
Calico
South Park: Stick of Truth

I'm a bit nervous about buying games online and downloading from them..I've had my bank account hacked twice and its a nightmare.

Even downloading a free game I'd be thinking is there something in the download that would allow them to retain my bank details, if I then go back and purchase one. Maybe I'm just paranoid!!!

It's a shame cos I would loved the BOTW DLC's and Ocarina of Time.

The physical version of The Witcher 3: Complete Edition just got a discount so I went ahead with that instead of the digital version. Should be here sometime next week

I ended up cancelling my order and buying the digital version because between the two the eShop version was a better deal

It's a fantasy series about a mutated monster hunter

It's also has a series on Netflix called The Witcher, the show is really good

I've found the type of games I like are changing as I get older! I didn't used to mind a game with a bit of combat..I loved soul caliber on the Dreamcast and Metal Gear Solid on the playstation and The final fantasy series as well as Zelda.

Now I find myself looking for games with no combat or bosses and don't like fighting and blood in the more photo-realistic games. I love the scenery and animals in some of them but if I have to kill anything I don't like it, especially where its animals look really realistic!

And I'm worried by the time BOTW2 eventually comes out I won't like it because there's too much fighting or it gets 'too dark'. What I like about BOTW1 is once past the plateau...if all you want to do is sneak up on the monsters while they're asleep and ride round on the horse you can do! (just avoid the area's with guardians and Lynels!)

I got Nino Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch yesterday for $9.99 (it was on sale, it’s regular price is $49.99) and I used some of my gold points on the eshop from previous purchases to pay for it so it was completely free.

I bought Family Trainer for more physio exercises...makes doing physio more fun as I never was the gym bunny type!!!

I'm trying to complete the jumino bundle for the greenhouse repairing on SDV but it wants an animal bundle with something from all animals and I don't want cows and sheep on this farm (though was planning to get goats and bunnies later).

Cows (and chickens) are on Kenny & Penny's dairy farm ..for making mayo and cheese too.

but this means I'm struggling to find cows milk in the Forest Farm game...the shop doesn't sell it!

Does anyone know if a village character gifts you cows milk for doing a task for them???

otherwise I'm just gonna have to get the greenhouse by turning community centre into a JoJo's warehouse - though I'm already doing it that way in other game - to get Penny's mum the bus quicker! ...so wanted to do the Jumino's quests in the Forest Farm save file

so stuck at the minute in that game

You can get a cow and a sheep, to get whatever you need from them (milk, etc) and then sell the cow and sheep since you don’t want them to stay on your farm

That would be funny haha But there is an option to sell them, if I recall correctly they just disappear once you pick that option and the money goes in to your account "To sell a coop or barn animal, right-click the animal after petting. The friendship/mood interface appears. Move the cursor over the gold coin button at the right to see how much the animal can be sold for"

oh right I'm on the switch so I'll have to check what buttons to press in place of right-click, but I'll look into that thanks!

I need a new escapism game. I want good scenery and animals that I don't have to hunt or kill and freedom to roam round in my own time.

I use video games to escape social demands and finding the downside of SDV the constant quests from other villagers and there's things you can't get unless you've got a certain amount of hearts with a certain character.

Is there a game that's completely open world in the sense you don't have to complete any 'people' quests and still get what you need to set up your house/farm?

maybe more building than interacting with others to achieve goals?
Thanks for this!

It’s a fantasy RPG where you’re a monster hunter, there’s a lot more to it but I can’t explain it well. Just look up the Witcher 3 and there’s probably a better explanation somewhere online.

Awesome! I got my 8th badge but I still need to go through victory road and beat the Elite Four and Cynthia still. Are you gonna get Pokémon Legends Arceus? It comes out the 28th of this month.
