I am not supposed to be going back to the workplace. Though my boss is in there. I have decided that it might be time for me to do so. At least one day per week.

I feel like both myself and my cat are going to be in for quite a shock I just wake up on January 1, and have to go back to work every day. So it would seem to be a good thing to start easing into it.

I have decided that it might be smart go back on Mondays. I am not particularly concerned about the corona virus. In fact in the entire 6 months no one in my workplace (or outside of it) as tested positive so I am guessing it is unlikely.

Anyone else?

I don't work

but I can see where you are coming from (going back now to get used to it again)
how's the situation with the virus in your area?. I know you said no one's been infected at work, that's great. I'm asking because if their's the slight chance of a second lockdown, or another wave, it may be best to wait until it's over

you don't want to start getting used to something again only for a few weeks later for the situation to go out of control

I don't know. your state may have it under control. just putting it out their as something to think about

Seems pretty quiet only like 300 new cases per day.

I have had this chat with a coworker.

Coworker is along the lines of you, that it's going to happen anyways- of going back to the office (right?)
And I am that trouble maker that is saying, we're proven we can work remotely and until someone says I have to, I just may not. I know when I have to go in, and that hasn't came up yet and when it does I'll for sure be there, as I've been in the past.

We have to inform and get approved by our manager to go in, then there's a whole process to just get into the building.

I have had the thought too of how I am not going to do well with daily commute and the hours away from home,... away from my animals... i had trouble managing staying before all of this

But I think if your area and office are allowing it, you should do what you feel you need to do.

I have wondered if going to the office would help with just being outside and going somewhere, myself. Help separating work and home again, as there have been times the two have merged together.

I’m totally in support of going back into the office. Starting with one day is wise and will help re-establish new routine and give a new environment to inspire new thoughts to prepare for returning full time. Who knows, working remotely could be more productive for certain tasks while being in the office may be for others. I suggest bringing in a small plant or decoration to brighten up the space and provide a healthy distraction. Practice your own quarantine fall-safes to help protect yourself. This way you won’t feel the need to quarantine yourself at home.

I think I am becoming "too" much of a hermit. I hardly go out at all, or get dressed. I hope in the future we will be able to work at home.

We have already done so much to prepare for it... it seems like it would be a waste to not do that.

I will say though, we have been completely off the reservation for 6 months. They used to make us report at 9 AM because they felt they couldn't trust us not to be there at 9 AM. We fave a flex time schedule but we need to be there for the "core hours" I feel like we need to push back on that in light of this. We have been without anyone watching us an the work (in fact it was more work than usual) has been done.
Thanks for this!

WOW.. I asked my boss and the answer was no. He said there are just too many people around who need to be there and if I don't need to be I shouldn't. I am really surprised. I think some people are milking it. Someone asked during a zoom if he or she "had to come back" because he or she had health concerns. Come on... we haven't had a single case in a pretty large group in about 6 months.... They are even paying for parking for people who do have to come in.

But they did say that this working at home is something that they are probably going to keep in place even after the pandemic.

I am sorry you were told no, NatalieJastrow

With what you mentioned of
Quote:
I hardly go out at all, or get dressed.
I have struggled with both to a degree, my dog has helped me get outside more over all, but I am still struggling with stores or just being out... if it wasn't for my dog I wouldn't probably go out many times.

The getting dressed I've had issues with , I've been trying to be better with making a routine again.

With my job, while there has been times in the past where- yes I woke up and hopped on the computer to work but always took the time to get dressed at some point & "being presentable" before going on site-- with remotely working i have had more times where I went at least five days -- yuk I know, my friend has reminded me I need to self care.

I may be back at square one, with building routines again (which has always been a struggle for me) but I try to have hope with it ...

My babble is to try to as kindly and supportively as I can suggest that maybe Making yourself priority with dressing and getting ready for the day.... i am having issues with it but the days I do it, I feel a little more accomplished
