This is totally silly, but cute -- and a good reminder not to take the labels seriously!
===== Psychological diagnoses of inhabitants of the Hundred Acre Wood, according to an article published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal, 2000: * Winnie-the-Pooh: ADHD, inattentive subtype; OCD (provisional diagnosis); borderline intellectual functioning (Very Little Brain) * Piglet: Generalized anxiety disorder * Eeyore: Dysthymic disorder * Rabbit: Narcissistic personality disorder * Owl: Reading disorder * Tigger: ADHD, hyperactivity-impulsivity subtype "Pooh needs intervention," the authors conclude. "We feel drugs are in order. We cannot but wonder how much richer Pooh's life might be were he to have a trial of low-dose stimulant medication. With the right supports, including methylphenidate, Pooh might be fitter and more functional and perhaps produce (and remember) more poems." ![]() |

Years ago when I was in my darkest days a wonderful doctor told me that I acted like eeyore...."nobody likes me, nobody cares"...and he even did it in an eeyore voice.....from the moment on I started to heal.
That has always stuck with me and helped me the most to get beyond despair. Now and then when I get feeling sorry for myself I just think about eeyore....say it in his voice as best as I can.....and put a smile on my face. I even loved it so much that I tattoo eeyore on me and I just look at it and smile....... Thanks for bringing another smile to my face..... Snowy

There is a book that is half joking and half serious called 'Pooh and the Ancient Philosophers'. Pooh is meant to be Socrates. The search for honey (wisdom). The profession of ignorance (he keeps saying he is a bear of Very Little Brain).
Eeyore... Is thought to be an expression of the Stoic tradition. Here is a story about a stoic. Someone or other (sorry - I forget his name - maybe Alexander) lived in a barrel. He was there, living in his barrel, and Alexander the Great came up to him and said: 'I've heard about your way of life and how you renounce material possessions. I would like to reward you... What would you like? You can have anything, anything at all'. The guy who lived in a barrel said: 'Can you move please, you are blocking my sun'. Thistles. Fit food for a stoic. ;-) |

funny stuff people ![]() Another addition to this list of semi-serious books is a set of books interpreting the characters in terms of taoism "The Tao of Pooh" and "The Te of Piglet" are worth a read, drawing a blank on the author atm.
