I have one radio controlled or atomic clock. I use that one to set all my other clocks, as I want the precise time on all of them. And I want all of them to be in sync, not even a few seconds off!

I'm old enough to remember the Time Lady. You called this number to get the exact time. As a kid I found it fascinating. I thought it was a live person on the phone all the time and I didn't know how she did it.

If the clock is off in a parking structure and they round up to the nearest 1/4 hour, you end up paying more.

On the subject of clocks....

My microwave clock annoys me. Why does it gain every time I use the microwave?

Once every two weeks I have to reset it as by then, it can be as much as 8/9 minutes fast

I find a lot of doctors seem dismissive of my concerns and think I'm a hypochondriac. Although they may have a point. I think I've had at least 7 Covid tests, all negative.

Some of my clocks do that, like this old clock radio I have. After awhile it ends up being as much as 10-15 minutes too fast. The clock on one TV is the opposite, it loses time after awhile and I have to reset it.

Also I don't know why so many things need clocks on them. I know what time it is. On the opposite end, there's an acquaintance with NO CLOCKS at all in the house except for the display on the stove.

I'd need at least a few clocks.

Why I’m the only person that seems to notice when things are amiss in this crap building. Nobody else notices the light is out in the laundry room or there’s a puddle in the lobby which someone could slip on?

Losing a mate to a pair of socks when I KNOW it was in the washer. And I made sure I got everything out.

Yet it "disappeared". Of course that can't happen and nobody would take one sock. And this happened on a favorite pair too.

1. Unmasked people indoors.
2. Unmasked people purposely coughing when they see an Asian masked me.
3. People telling me to "go back to China" or "go back to Wuhan" (even though I'm not Chinese, but I am Asian).
4. People asking me, "What are you?" I can handle, "Where are you from?" But when I answer where I'm from, don't assume that I'm a foreigner by asking me where I am "really from" or where my parents are from.
5. People telling me that I'm a "model minority" or a "sexy exotic Asian" or "smart because I'm Asian." None of that is true!
6. People judging me for my appearance, weight, disability, age, race, height, or gender.
7. People leaving me out of things like I'm the last to know, if ever, or telling me, "I didn't want to tell you because I thought you'd be too worried."
8. People trying to push their religion or anti-religion on me.
9. People gaslighting me.
10. People victim-blaming and victim-shaming.
11. People fat-shaming.
12. People being passive-directive, indirect, giving the silent treatment, etc.
13. Unruly neighbors touching my things like my packages or my laundry, when I used to used shared laundry rooms. Thankfully, I have my own washer and drying inside my apartment.
14. Neighbors having loud sex. Thankfully, I don't hear that as much.
15. Young adults making all sorts of noise between 2 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. where I live - all inebriated and unmasked and close together and superspreading whatever.
16. People saying "don't live in fear" when you're just truly "following the science."
17. People still thinking that DID is schizophrenia or a personality disorder.
18. People saying insensitive things about the disabled, immigrants, non-white persons, non-Christian persons, Muslim persons, atheists, those above 40, nontraditional students in college, the elderly, the obese, the overweight, the underweight, short people, those trying to recover from an addiction, those trying to get rehabilitated post incarceration, the masked, the vaccinated, the boosted, the shielding/isolating/sheltering, the socially distanced, the poor, and other minorities (which "minority" in and of itself could be also deemed "insensitive").
19. People being TOO politically correct to the point where my brain-fogged mind cannot possibly remember everything that offends everyone; the best I can do is communicate, ask a question, apologize when I say something ignorant, and try my best to learn.
20. That said about 18 and 19, I also feel threatened, insulted, discriminated against, and hurt at times when people say things that they don't mean, but it still nonetheless hurts because of how systemic racism and xenophobia and nationalism have infiltrated at least the USA, if not other countries as well.
21. People coughing without covering their mouths (before and during this pandemic).
22. People sneezing without covering their nose (before and during this pandemic).
23. This pandemic and all its uncertainties, changing rules, etc. (Even though I do shield/isolate, wear tons of PPE, socially distance, filter the air, clean and disinfect, and maintain some sort of hygiene).
24. Anything related to mental health stigma.
25. Men saying derogatory things about women.
26. Rapists getting away with their crimes.
27. Murderers and hate-crime offenders getting away with their crimes.
28. Gun violence.
29. Mass shootings.
30. Sensationalism in news.
31. Typos. I'm guilty.
32. Grammatical errors. I'm guilty.
33. Bullies, stalkers and the like.
34. Scammers, spammers, spoofers, and the like.
35. Receiving unwanted texts, emails, snail mail, etc.
36. Door deliveries delivered to the wrong apartment.
37. Shoppers not following my directions through Shipt or Instacart, etc.
38. Door deliveries by unmasked persons.
39. Delivery so-called-professionals who fail to follow directions on the call box at apartment buildings and refuse to do contactless delivery because of their incompetence.
40. Postal services that claim they picked up my packages but clearly didn't.
41. Having to deal with so many prompts on the phone in order to speak to a live customer service representative.
42. Not getting the sale item or coupon reward.
43. Ordering some minimum amount for Target's promotion and finding out that your one order got split into two or more orders, which voided your use of that for their promotion. I gave up.
44. Dealing with broken merchandise sent in the mail.
45. Ordering food and it being delivered already expired or about to expire tomorrow.
46. Neighbors not cleaning up after their dog pees or poops in the hallways, in the elevator, on the sidewalk, etc. There's even a dog bathing section, a minipark dog section, and free bags offered for them to pick up their fur babies' excrement.
47. When the FedEx delivery person sometimes puts my packages on the very top of the bookcase in the package room, which is next to the 10-foot-high ceiling. I cannot reach it, and then it takes me a few days to request that someone bring it down for me or I will report it missing and get my full money back since it was placed in an area that I couldn't reach or see whether or not it was for me. I think the problem has since been rectified since I've asked the landlord to inform the FedEx driver not to do that, but they sometimes go on vacation and the new guy will then do that. Tall people surely don't provide equal opportunity for short people, and the landlord won't put a paper sign at least to prevent them from doing that. Also, I think they know I'm Asian, and since I'm the only one they do that to, I fear that they were doing that on purpose. It's hard to tell. But all this anti-Asian hate has really got me thinking about how different I get treated from most.
48. Disinformation (which is distinguished from misinformation).
49. The ways in which the CDC and FDA have changed their minds and used politics and economics to determine their recommendations, as opposed to strict science.

physical christmas cards

here me out on this: it's not the thought I have an issue with, or even the holiday greetings

my issue is the actual card

I can't be the only person in the world who thinks I need to save space for things I actually need, and actually use, not cards.

I know that makes me sound like a screwdge- and trust me, I'm not

I just prefer a good ecard.. you can save it to your computer, share it with friends, look at when ever... without taking up valuable space.

One solution to that would be to scan them into your computer and then shred them for recycling purposes. If you follow the KonMari (Marie Kondo's "Magic of Tidying" book) logic, you can thank a person for the gift but NOT FEEL OBLIGATED to keep the gift forever. You can display it for decoration that year, or even just take the time to feel it, read it, meditate on the person's care in sending it, and then scan it and shred it. Once scanned fully, you can cherish the memory of it and beauty of it, even if it was a pop-up. You can then contribute to sustainability and the environment (reducing climate crises) by shredding it and recycling it. That way, it takes up less space and you're doing a service to the environment through recycling.

I plan on doing that in 2022 with all of my cards, letters, and otherwise.

The thing is, definitely get one or more backup flash drives and/or external hard drives, and keep those up to date and virus-scanned.

It's approaching 9pm and my neighbours' washer/dryer is still going. Now over 3 hours.

Ongoing problem. If I say anything then they'll find something else. In the short time they've lived above me, I've complained about tv being too loud (so loud they didn't hear me knocking door!), visitors' cigarette ends and beer bottles dropped into my garden. Nearly cut my hand on pieces of glass in the flower bed. Bizarrely, even found two eggs in my compost, presumably dropped from their kitchen window. Solved that too by moving compost bin.

Pet peeve = inconsiderate neighbours!!

I feel your pain. The people above me aren't conscious that their floor is my ceiling. Or don't care. Always dropping stuff on the floor, startling me, or trampling around from room to room. They slam stuff too. Sliding door cabinets, everything. 2 people.

I've had 2 people up there before, and I hardly heard a peep from them. So it's these particular people that are obnoxious, not the number of people up there.

Last week I heard somebody running the water continuously for 3 hours! It was from above me but not directly. I think 2 floors up, and it sounded like the shower (It was directly above my bathroom, the floor plans are the same). How could somebody be in the shower that long? I swear the water never stopped, not even a minute. It was annoying as it sounds so loud since the walls aren't insulated. So I hear that water gushing through the pipes. Got on my nerves. I was relieved when it finally stopped.

They make these walls out of "tissue paper and spit". If they were better constructed, you wouldn't hear them. But that would cost too much money. I swear I could never "work at home" with that racket above me. Does the government think we all live in soundproof buildings? Or have good neighbors?

Oh no. Does your phone have one of those trackers? Can you call the phone company and get a replacement? Can you file a stolen phone, or at least a missing one? Is your phone insured?

For the credit card, that can be remedied by calling the credit card company and cancelling your card while also having it replaced. It will put a hold on some expenditures, but at least your card will be safe.

It's your phone that is the most problematic. You need a phone to communicate and also be safe, in some instances. Your phone also has many identifying features that is easy for identity thefts to steal. So there might be a way for your phone company to wipe the drive remotely and deactivate your phone (other than to catch the thieves) so that you can get a replacement. You can also try calling the Uber company and seeing if the Uber driver was friendly enough to check and return the phone to you. They often share their name and phone number on the App or on your account, so calling Uber's C/S might be able to remedy that without filing reports, etc.

((((safe hugs)))))

This is a tough time to lose anything.

Thanks for this!

I know, me too. I try to be extra courteous to them as I know how much abuse they must get, both on the phone and in person (referring to the latter in that case).

The dairy guy at my grocery store always goes out of his way to check on his stock for items I want. I thank him profusely, and I always call him by his name, which is on the tags they all wear. I never forgot how he once said, "I do it for you. You treat me with courtesy and respect. Most customers don't....."

People who ignore flight attendants welcome at door. Also, not thanking them when disembarking.

By engaging you are recognising their role and if they've got time, they may even stop for a chat with you.
