Makes me feel OLD. I've noticed they are now calling music from the 90's and first decade of the 2000's "classic rock".

I do like those bands you mentioned (not famiiiar with Soundgarden or I didn't know the name of the artist if I heard something from them) but they aren't "classic" to me. VH1 Classic Music Videos is sometimes as recent a 2010 and later.

I used to live around the corner from an establishment that had on its marquee:
"50's 60's 70's 80's rock". I wonder what it says now? I used to poke fun at it back then - in the early 80's!

I consider Nirvana the last of the classic rock bands.

My two/too terms: “lol” and “LOL”.

My bro and I, along with approximately 843699538 others on the internet, have always used “lol” for laugh out loud.

When my dad started texting, though, in his early 70s, I received this message from him:

“I’m sorry your cat died.
lol — dad”

I knew he meant “lol” to mean “lots of love”, of course, but I felt I needed to clarify. After a brief explanation of internet shorthand, our family agreed that “lol” (lowercase) would still mean “laugh out loud”, and established that “LOL” (uppercase) would mean “lots of love”.

Now that he is gone, this text is one of my favorite memories.

It makes me tear up but, it makes me smile

He was such a gift, and would have developed gloriously as a musician/lyricist. I wish people would've stayed off his jock.

Agreed.

Do you still listen to him?

Oh, absolutely. Were he alive, Kurt would be barely 5 years younger than I am. So we're both '60-'70's kids.

I never knew there was or could be a difference between lol and LOL. I've used them interchangeably, and it depends on whether I think of changing the case. I've forgotten it can mean lots of love too, but of course it depends on the context. When I see it, I think it means laughing. ROFL is used too, rolling on floor laughing...Maybe that's better than LOL, since it couldn't be mixed up with the other meaning?

I guess I've used LOL for emphasis, for laughing.

I think, in general on the ‘net, the case doesn’t specify the meaning, but rather the context does (as you mentioned). This is just something my family came up with. Maybe it’ll go viral from our posts here! lol

Oh.....I don't spend a lot of time online, and I've never done much texting or anything where shortcuts are used way more.

There's also LMAO (Laughing my ***** off), which I think is usually used in the upper case, but like you said the context tells you the meaning.

I noticed this in the emojis on here: and The "codes" for both are ROTFLMAO and rofl. As far as I know, there's no other meaning than laughing. (Unlike for lol)

I know it's (extremely) difficult to get people to click on links (I don't know why?) buh this performance is one of Kurt's most heart-wrenching. He has his heart on his sleeve & his soul bared

TY! I copied the link to my official to-do list (the official list actually gets stuff checked off, the unofficial list is basically more a “wish-to-do” list)
