I tried eggfruit, longans, and kumquats. I like to sample fancy fruit, but it's pretty expensive.

Dragonfruits are pretty good. I love sumo oranges, I'm not sure if they are exotic but they are pretty seasonal and are hard to find.

Good post. I actually haven''t had an exotic fruit for ages. Hopefully that will be remedied soon.

I like fresh figs, not sure if they’re exotic or not but I ate some delicious ones in Spain, the imported ones aren’t quite the same.

I have always been fascinated by exotic fruits. While I enjoy the occasional apple or banana, there is something about a tropical fruit that just seems to be...well, more exciting. Passion fruit, with its unique flavor and vibrant color, is one of my favorites. I also enjoy mangoes, papayas, and lychees. While I have yet to try every exotic fruit out there, I'm always on the lookout for new and interesting tastes.

I am a big fan of fruits.I have tried many kinds.I think each and every one has a uniqueness of its own. When ever I go grocery shopping, I take my own sweet time looking at the fruit assortment. I tried star fruit, guava, jackfruit, fig, jujube, persimmon, papaya,Goji berry, lychee,Dragon fruit etc The other day I saw budhas hand,a very cool looking fruit in my local whole foods. I would like to try that
Any one tried budhas hand? How is it? |

I also like figs a lot and use them in my cooking and baking, but not sure if they fit the "exotic" category. Though I do sort of like more exotic fruit, I confess to preferring the more usual options. I guess the slightly exotic ones I've deliberately bought were kiwi (not that exotic) and star fruit (mostly for their nice shape). Last month the online grocer gave us two passion fruit as a freebie. They tasted OK. I suppose I wouldn't write home about them. There are some I ate in Taiwan and Costa Rica that I never had in NJ. They were OK.
I used to drink a kumquat tea in Taiwan that was very helpful for easing cold symptoms relating to the throat and chest. Kumquats do taste nice, but aren't too exotic in taste, I don't think. They're a citrus fruit and taste like one, albeit a little more sour than an orange and usually used or eaten with the rinds on. In Taiwan, I also tried durian fruit. Horrible stinky thing, but plenty of Taiwanese eat it.

My whole family all love persimmon. Like can’t have enough of it. I know it’s not really exotic, just not something everyone eats. I literally cannot stand it. Weird.

I’m not much of a fruit eater. And here where I live now there’s not really a place that sells exotic fruit. Mango is about as exotic as it gets here. But when I lived in Austin tx I’d try this and that. I forget the names but nothing really stood out as it’s fruit and I’m a veggie person.

I absolutely love fruit, and there's sure plenty of it available here. There's a majestic big old fig tree near my apartment and my husband and I pick a bag full of figs every late summer.
At this time of year all the various persimmons come ripe. Apple persimmons are my favorite exotic fruit. Apple persimmons are quite different from regular persimmons, in that you can eat them (they're pretty crunchy) without getting that weird effect in your mouth (the tannin, as you might with a regular persimmon). I like Buddha Hands; they can be eaten raw or used in baking. Pretty cool fruit. Here's an image, if you haven't seen one before: ![]()

I missed your post somehow. In my post below yours there's a pic of a Buddha's Hand. Aren't they fascinating? The taste is mildly citrus.

There is one fruit I’ve been curious to try, breadfruit. They say it tastes like fresh baked bread.
