This is kinda an odd question but I've heard people do this.

I hardly ever get any looks from anyone but I always wear expensive hard to get Nikes..

These 2 young guys at Starbucks yesterday didn't pay me any attention and its the young guys I worry about but they never care or say anything.

Forgive my ignorance but when you say it's the "young guys" you "worry about", what does that mean? You're trying to get their attention by wearing expensive Nikes?

No sorry. I mean I'm trying not to draw attention to myself because of my gender identity so I try to blend in and try to wear what other people my age would wear.

Some do, some don't...

Back in the 70s a high school counselor scolded me about my shoes as I was leaving for a job interview.

I did the best I could, but being a female that wears a size 6.5 EEE, there aren't many options.

She said I needed some opened-toed shoes instead of the closed-toed "clodhoppers" I was wearing.

I told her I would wear open-toed shoes if it wasn't for the three toes I'd lost in a lawnmower accident...

A complete lie, but an oh so satisfying one!

She fell all over herself in embarrassment while apologizing profusely.

I never told her any different...

I got the job, by the way, so evidently it didn't matter to the employer!

Life is too short to try to "blend in" and be concerned about what other people wear. Just be you. If people judge you based on your shoe selection, they're not worth your time.

MD, I agree with Revenge Tour. Why hang out with people who care what kind of shoes you wear? You do you.

Some folks definitely do pay attention to shoes, but most are probably caught up in their own world. The two guys at Starbucks likely just didn’t think twice. I wouldn’t take it as a negative.

No one judges strangers on what shoes they wear. Those young guys don’t know you so there’s no reason for them to look at your shoes. Just wear what you like
