I'm taking my advanced placement test in May. If I pass it then I can take my AP Psych course. I am so nervous about it though, I only have my notes and such from this year which was just basically an intro to psych. Should I get outside information to study or do you think I will be prepared if I know all my notes from this year?

Here's the info on the exam, mandazzle, including a downloadable set of questions; learn what you can and see if you think you'll do okay or not?

Yeah I actually found that at school when I made this thread. I think I'm going to ask my mom to talk to my guidance counselor about it because she has a meeting with her anyway.

I don't quite understand how you're situated though; the AP test is for college credit at whatever college you decide to go to after you've taken psych in high school. You don't have to take a test to get in the AP psych course itself, just good grades. If you have already taken a psych course though, I don't think you can take another; they're the same, the AP course is just more intense. But getting an A or B on the AP test is so whatever college you pick gives you credit for taking a college psych 1 course so you don't have to take that 3 credits. I took the AP European History exam, for example because I was going to major in history. However, I got a "D" :-) so no credit for me. But that has nothing to do with your grade in high school or what courses you took, etc. Theoretically you could teach yourself some course and take the AP test and maybe get credit. It's for college though, not high school.

Thats true sorta.

I am taking AP English, AP biology, Honors Physics and honors pre calc next year and i get college credits for all of them.

Plus i get callege credit for my advacned alegbra this year my honors history and honors english classes.

But i only take the AP exam for my AP classes lol yet they still matter for highschool because the colleges see if you fail them and you have to pass them to graduate.

No it's not Perna, I need to take the AP exam in order to take the AP psych course next year. The course I already took and the AP course are not the same, they are different. I will get credits next year for passing the class for college, so I will get a head start.

Then it's a college course. In my day and age :-) we took a course in the subject, took the exam, and that gave us the credit so we didn't have to take the college course.

It sounds like in your school you take a course, take the exam and then take another "standardized" college course which gives you credit; our regular high school courses use to prepare us for the exam which was all that was needed for the credit.

We didn't have anything that was standardized; our AP courses were made up by our school/county and hopefully prepared students to get an A or B on the test so they'd get the college credit; you just had to be a "good" student to get into the AP course. Now it sounds like the colleges have gotten together and said, okay, you have to pass the test to get into the college-level course which will then give you credit, kind of standardizing it a bit more.

No perna, thats not how it is for me.
I dont take any of the AP tests until after i take the AP class. Then at the end of the year i take the AP test and as long as i pass it i get the credits for college. I have never heard of having to take the AP test to get into the AP class.

That's what we have to do. The AP test is in may and if you pass it you get into the class.

What grade did you get in your psych class, mand? If you got an A or B you should be fine studying your notes on the exam. The old/other way they do it that is all we had before we took the test, we had just taken the course and then we take the test.
